Its funny, of the 2 wal marts I go into on a regular basis the much smaller store had the better selection of blus. I picked up Kingdom of Heaven

Re: $10 Blu-rays @ Wal-Mart

The ones I saw were away from the regular blu-ray movies area. At my Wallyworld they have 3 metal racks in the middle of the floor near electronics with alot of regular dvd's priced from $7 - $13. These $10 blu's were on one of the smaller racks they had and were facing away from the electronics department. And to be honest that wal-mart has them almost scattered throughout the area with some blu's mixed in w/ the regular dvd's. Seems like they are getting in blu's with nowhere to actually put them so they are just filling in spaces around the dvd areas. idk, i hope any of this helps though.

I've seen Blu's mixed in with the DVDs there as well.. Kinda hope that is not the new setup everywhere...

As a matter of fact, the $10 Blu-rays I saw even had music CD's on the rack. =\

Not sure if this is old news, but I saw they had the Firefly series for $39.96 regular price this morning.

$12 for Goldfinger at my local (Omaha). No slipcover though, but I can live without it at that price.

Grab Firefly now if you're going to pick it up. The quarterly change of movies is going to happen as early as next week.

I found Star Trek @ walmart last night for $10. The regular version was $7. There was another $10 one I passed on, can't remember what it was. Still can't find Kingdom of Heaven. Been to several walmarts.

FYI a new special edition of Terminator is coming sometime this year (perhaps to coincide with Avatar) with a full digital restoration by Lowry Images, as per The Digital Bits. PQ on existing edition is less than impressive.

Near Dark was $8 at mine but I already own it.

That's putting it mildly. Virtually indistinguishable from the DVD.

Plus, it drops the original mono track and all of the supplements from the DVD. I personally consider Terminator to be one of the most disappointing BDs out there. I stuck w/the DVD.

Maybe to your eyes....while far from the finest BD has to offer, it still looked superior to the DVD to me....although at this point, I agree if you haven't already bought a copy it would probably just be wise to wait for the re-release....

That's not true....it still contains the deleted scenes, and the "Creating The Terminator: Visual Effects & Music" and "Terminator: A Retrospective" featurettes....

I spotted a ton of copies of Star Trek Blu-ray & Transformers Big Screen Edition Blu-ray in a $15 bin today at my Super Walmart along with some SD titles.

Arnold's wang is definitely more pronounced in HD. His majestic danglage (and this guy took steroids!) should be enough to make it worth the $10.

That is a hell of a deal. All of the Wal*Marts around here sell it for $25.

Yep, I went by my WM at around 7 and they were overhauling the whole BD/DVD section, so I'll check it out tomorrow to see what's there.

The other $10 one was Terminator Salvation. I didn't pick it up. I might this weekend if it is still $10. Star Trek was a blindbuy. Heck, $10 is a steal!

Maxflier 02-08-10 03:04 PM

Re: $10 Blu-rays @ Wal-Mart

The new Star Trek is a pretty safe blind buy, especially for just 10 bones. Hell, I hate Star Trek and I even liked it a lot.

Someone on another forum said they seen the tags out for tommorow's Lionsgate releases for $10.

The Running Man
The Phantom
Drop Zone
Hard Rain

Awesome! I'll be all over Running Man for that price. Maybe The Phantom, too, but Running Man for sure....

I can confirm the $10 Lionsgate releases. The Wal-Mart near my house was in the process of overhauling the entire movie department and the tags were out and ready to go.

Also picked up a copy of The Last Kiss on BD for $5. Too bad still no Saw triple pack or any sort of spot for it. :(
