The PQ for Running Man is weak (an upgrade over the two-disc DVD), but the DTS 7.1 HD-MA track will rip the skirt off any woman who walks into your house. I had to lower it about ten minutes in from my normal setting because I thought I would get a noise complaint.

I was also surprised by The Phantom. Great PQ and AQ for a film over fifteen years old.

I just love how Lionsgate is throwing DTS 7.1 tracks onto all of their catalog titles now.

Has anyone had any luck finding Donnie Darko? That's the only title I'm interested in, but none of the stores I went to had any.

Ya, mine had them mixed in with cheaper DVD stands they have sitting out in middle aisle. If you can't find it you can get it at Amazon for like 50 cents more.

Re: $10 Blu-rays @ Wal-Mart

I found the above mentioned $10 titles at my WM in the BD aisle. Now this morning I found 4 new areas of BD's with $10 (darkhawk mentioned a few on the previous page--most have not been the previously mentioned, such as Speed Racer) and $15 titles (Amadeus and Casablanca are the only ones I remember). They were located on the 4 corners of the $7.50 and $9 DVD racks. Sorry my memory sucks so bad, but there were definitely some new titles there. Half of the spaces were empty, so they didn't get them all in yet, but the tags were there.

I'm kind of disappointed. It looks like my walmart cut their BD selection in half...I've only been able to find a few sony titles on an endcap, and a tiny rack in the middle of the DVD aisle with the new BD's on it. It was about fully restocked too, cause I had stopped in several times to check out the new selections and it seemed like it was taking them eons to get all the movies in their place.

I went to a diff walmart and BDs were everywhere. They even had Galapagos for $10!

Yeah, it seems to be a crap shoot at this point of what one will find.

If anyone finds a Wal-Mart that carries Speed Racer is $10, I recommend purchasing it. It has lossy audio (bleh), but still remains to be one of the best looking BDs I own. It's also a great movie despite what others say (and I'll fight them regarding that too).

Still hoping that I can find a Wal-Mart with the Saw triple pack.

I agree. Speed Racer was an amazing experience when I saw it in the theater.

I've got to look for that as well.

Re: $10 Blu-rays @ Wal-Mart

Thanks for the list, Matthew. I saw all of those, plus Amadeus, Speed Racer, and a slot for Casablanca but it wasn't there... Push was there, but it was labeled 19.96 while everything else said $15. I didn't scan it though...
I'm desperately trying to find The Last Kiss for $5. Has it been found by the BD's, or by the $5 DVD's?

Matthew Chmiel 02-11-10 04:08 PM

Re: $10 Blu-rays @ Wal-Mart

When I found Last Kiss, it was a sole copy near the BDs in a rack full of other random BDs.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but "The Mist" was $9.99 at Best Buy for a couple of weeks last month.

They had Donnie Darko for $10 around the holiday season, but I haven't seen any in stores for about a month or so.

Saw one whole locked case of the double-feature sets this morning (ranging from $10 - $20). Some decent combos but nothing I needed.

Re: $10 Blu-rays @ Wal-Mart

I just saw Donnie Darko this afternoon at my Wal-Mart for $10. They had alot of blu's ranging from $10-$15 on the end cap sides of the regular DVD stand in the middle of the aisle. They were scattered all over the place, so there is alot of searching to be done throughout the Electronic Section. I did pick up The Running Man for $10 and I can confirm that my Wal-mart only had 2 of each of the four... Phantom, Drop Zone, Running Man & Hard Rain. I think Kingdom of Heaven went up from $10 to $15 though.

Is a $10 upgrade for Die Hard from the five-star collection DVD advisable?

Re: $10 Blu-rays @ Wal-Mart

Got Days of Thunder for $10.

Also found the double packs. Some simular to Sam's. The other are:
Reservoir Dogs/Kings of New York
War/Bangcock Dangerous
Universal Soldier/Total Recall
Crank/The Bank Job
Saw/Saw 2
Saw 3, 4, 5 (finally)

There still is not $8 titles

Hell yeah, dude. Speed Racer was way underrated, and looks great on BD.

I didn't... It wouldn't surprise me if a 4-movie BD box set with tons of extras comes out eventually... For now, I'm sticking with the Five Star sets...
