Walmart put its Black Friday movie shippers out on the floor in stores this morning. The full list of sale titles is available in the Black Friday spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
For my store, it was 4 shippers that I found near the entrance to the Electronics section. At 6:30 AM, it looked like only 1 or 2 other people had been there before me. For each 4K title, it looks like there were only 4 copies in the shippers. For the Blu-ray titles, it looks like most of them were either 4 or 8 copies. The formats are all grouped together by title, so, for example, if you find the DVD copies of Everything Everywhere All At Once and can't find the 4K version next to them, then they're sold out of the 4K.

Not really sure whether or not to put this under walmart or deep discount but: The Contender (Imprint) is on sale for $13.65. You have to click more seller options.

Shawscope Volume 2 is $94.63 + tax and free shipping from Walmart via Deep Discount. Basically the same price it would be at current price + 15% off coupon whenever they have one, plus no extra shipping charge.

That is a great price, imho, considering it is a new release. I haven't gotten around to watching volume 1 yet I will wait until next year when it might go to $80 or less.. but for those who have already dived into volume 1 already, this is a good deal.

Not sure if it's a targeted offer, but I got an email from Topcash regarding a $15 credit for a Walmart purchase. Spend $15 and get $15 in topcash.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
I wonder if Walmart would have any Black Friday deals on movies? Dropped by my local Walmart this morning and looked around the usual place as well as their media center. But no such displays like last year. I know the past 2 years, Walmart had 3 Fridays in November with various deals on the different Fridays. This year, it is only on the 10th and 24th. Asked the media center clerk and she said maybe later? She didn't know for sure.
Anyone else know if Walmart would have any deals this year? With Best Buy going out of the physical media business next year and Target with just one or two "racks" of movies and hardly any sales so far, I wonder is Walmart even bothering offering deals on movies anymore?

Walmart barely bothered with media deals in stores last year, doubt they do anything special. The studios just don't have the leftover inventory anymore they need to dump to service an entire national chain like Walmart these days.

Walmart had those "shipper" displays last year, like they have had in years past. The ones with the colored dots for the pricing. I figure they will still have those again.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
It's true last year the selections weren't great. More DVDs than blurays. Since their first of two black friday events didn't have those shipper display hopefully it would be there on the second event on 11-24.

If one believes the media, consumers are streaming rather than collecting this year. Self fulfilling prophecy?

One of the big Hollywood trades mentioned how technically media has bounced back a little this year in terms of overall revenue and they think niche labels will pick up the torch for a market which will likely settle into something resembling the current vinyl market.
Though I've heard crazy numbers about the current market for vinyl, something like 40% of all new vinyl is never actually heard and merely collected.

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
One thing to consider about Black Friday is that even if stores like Target and Best Buy are going to stop carrying DVDs and blu-rays, they still might have Black Friday sales.
The Black Friday movie sales don't necessarily come out of their regular inventory; they're overstock sent to the stores from the studios/distributors, hence why the Walmart movies always have their own SKU. Meaning, if a movie is on sale at Walmart for Black Friday, you have to buy one from a shipper and not from the shelf because a movie from the regular shelf won't ring up at the sale price.
So even if they aren't carrying movies in their regular inventory, they might still carry them for Black Friday.
Maybe. We'll have to see what happens this year and next year at Target and Best Buy.

So does that mean that horrid bin of cases you have to dig through to find what you want? Because if these stores remove the dedicated space for media where are they going to put them even if it is outside of their regular inventory?

Re: Walmart / walmart.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray
No, no bins. They'll just find floorspace for them.
Walmart, Best Buy, and Target get these things called "shippers," which are big cardboard displays full of the DVDs and blu-rays they have on sale. They just put those out on the floor for the duration of the Black Friday sale, and then, presumably, send the unsold stock back.
In days past, my Walmart had all of their Black Friday DVDs, blu-rays, and video games in a roped-off area back in the refrigerated food section. Target would put their movie shippers in the womens' clothing area near the electronics.
But, since the nature of Black Friday sales has changed and they're basically just doing a bunch of small sales all month, it's hard to tell what they'll do this year and going forward.
