Yeah I jumped on the Bond deal, and sold the UV's to a friend. Even better deal.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Star Trek 2, 3, and 4 set $14.99 after $3 instant off.

Star Trek: Compendium $14.99 after $3 instant off.
( Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness.)

Both come with $8 movie money for the next film.

I believe Star Trek 2 is the old version not the remastered extended edition.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I know I'm about a month late to the party, but does costco still carry/have in stock

Bicycle Thieves
Only Angels Have Wings
The Manchurian Candidate
The Kid
In a Lonely Place
The Graduate
Don't Look Back (Dylan doc)
The Player
Nashville

& a few more

????

Mainly looking for In a lonely place. Might be able to get it from barnes and noble for a couple dollars less, but if I can save myself the hassle and just get it from costco, then I'd rather do that.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

^It all depends on what your Costco got and what they have sold. I was at mine yesterday and they were down to just one or two copies of Bicycle Thieves and The Kid. They had sold everything else. It seems they get restock of various Criterions once every other month.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I was at Costco last weekend and only the following were still on the shelf:

Bicycle Thieves
The Manchurian Candidate
The Kid
Don't Look Back (Dylan doc)
Nashville

The only ones I wanted were gone. But given the now running Barnes and Noble sale, that turned out to be a good thing.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Completely forgot about it (maybe it wasn't a good deal after all lol), but I purchased a Digibook of Seven on Blu for $12.99 over the weekend. It was the only copy and honestly I was not even aware there was a digibook of Seven. It's really nice, I'll gladly get rid of my standard blu-ray.

I know this is a Costco thread but has anyone noticed their Sam's Club stop carrying physical media? Mine has books but it appears they removed all movies and music.

Yeah, they ditched it in mine too...I think occasionally there is a new release or some warmed over DVD, but they are long gone from Sam's Club. Costco still has their nice neat little section, but I keep wondering if it will disappear in a year or two completely as well. Which is a shame since it is so easy to throw in a $10-$20 Blu-ray along with my 5-10 lbs of meat, 150ct diapers and 24 pack of Snapple.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I could see Costco limiting the bulk of section to special buying times during the year. But I doubt it ever totally get rid of it given the larger table also has books and other media items. Maybe they could put the video game section back on the same table rather than having it separate.

The DVD section (seasonal or not) has been shrinking for years now at Costco. Much like the shrinking participation in this forum. Sign of the times.

and in the shrunken media space, there are more DVDs than BDs, go figure. Have given up on Costco for media needs.

Pretty much. They have some new stuff that was released in the past couple months but that's it. Almost all of their video game stuff is gone now too.

I don't even bother checking Costco's media section anymore. Costco rarely prices new releases at any real discount and their selection is completely aimed at older women.

That's true. I forgot all the video game stuff as well. They even shrunk their book section. Guess all the media was a loss leader and it wasn't paying off.

Eh...no loss. Their prices sucked most of the time anyway.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

As small the BD section has become, I still do at least a fly by on every visit. There still is the occasional awesome deal. Even on the occasional new release when they do one of those instant rebates.

What I found most interesting as of late is how often they only have empty cases on the tables. Guess they had a major shoplifting problem.

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Costco was great for box sets of classic films such as the Warner Signature collections, the big Gift sets, Dirty Harry , Harry Potter, and Compete TV series. Not having to wait for the Barnes and Noble sale to purchase Criterions has been great. ( I know with membership and coupons B&N is better) They were never competitive against Amazon in releases of new films. Now that there are few to none new box sets of film classics released, the only things they have is stuff that was released several years ago. At Christmas how many copies of the gift sets of Ben Hur ,The Wizard of Oz, and the Sound of Music can they still sell? There is plenty of media for sale at Amazon. There is just not much sold in brick and mortar stores anymore.

Yep, not only that, the weekly/monthly sales are almost non-existent.

At least they still have media, Sam's Club has completely abandoned it.

what gets me completely riled is that that saved shelf space is being used to stock and sell loads of Halloween crap...already. Man, seriously, the junk that people buy <facepalm>

Re: Costco discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I did check it out this week. A handful of animated Batman BDs like Son of Batman for $7.99 were included.

The section is smaller than ever.

There were no DC animated titles at my Costco location. That older women demographic they supposedly cater to must have snatched them all up.

One side of the media shelf was all dedicated to DVD sets of older British mysteries and period romances. Those are primarily purchased by women past middle age.

Costco has the Frankenstein and Wolfman Legacy Collections for $26.99 each. Best Buy cheaper at $14.99 the Wolfman set.
