Re: One/Only HD/BD Bargains Thread Pt. IV: Back To Bargains

Not sure if this really qualifies as a "bargain"-- but the reportedly region-free "Man On Wire" Blu-ray (which has STILL not been announced in the States) is on sale at amazon.co.uk; even with international shipping, it still only came up to $21.62 USD.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Man-Wire-Blu...693726&sr=8-2t

UPDATE: Got it today (less than a week after ordering) and can confirm that it is indeed region-free.

Re: One/Only HD/BD Bargains Thread Pt. IV: Back To Bargains

This isnt quite the legendary Frys' deal where they had BD three packs for 21.99, but just left Best Buy and they have a couple of good deals going with the same three packs Frys has on sale a few weeks ago. If you buy two 3-packs or boxsets marked at 39.99 or higher, Best Buy will give you a 25.00 gift card (if you buy three, they'll give you a 50 dollar gift card).

I just bought the X-Men Trilogy (which they actually had marked at 49.99 instead of 55.99, which is the advertised price on the website) & that Action Hero 3-Pack (Day After Tomorrow/I-Robot/Terminator) at 39.99, the total came to 98 bucks after tax (keep in mind, I pay 9.25% sales tax in CA), plus the 25 dollar gift card.

Although it's not the best deal ever for BD movies, depending on how you use the gift card, it's not a bad deal at all.

Wished? Why not? It's $46.99 right now. Had it increased after the post on the 23rd?

I thought that too, at first.

If you read it closely, it states "If I was able ...", which I assume to mean he may not have the money at this time.

Totally agree. In fact, I disliked watching any movie that had John Wayne prior to watching this one.

If anybody is interested in Taking Lives HD DVD it is 7.50 plus 2.98 shipping in the amazon marketplace from piece of mind books. It is mislabeled as a dvd. But in another forum they say the upc code matches the HD and there are photos showing the HD DVD that somebody posted. Just search amazon.

Edit.. I guess they were in the process of resetting the price back to 29.99 becuz it doesnt even show it listed at 19.99 anymore. Haters.

Heads up for those who like shopping at Target and don't mind paying tax to get a movie instantly:

My Super Target is now using their 1st section of BDs for a bunch of different sale catalog titles. They have spots for several older Paramount titles, such as MI 1, 2, 3, Hunt for Red October, Old School, Days of Thunder, and a few more with a new $14.99 price cut. Transformers is also on a $19.99 price cut and there are alot more. These prices are in effect through 6/29.

I won't post details on how to optimize your Sony Rewards account (I've done it before), but for those of you who have a Sony card, use Sony Rewards, and have activated the Wheel Watchers discount, Glory is only $15.46 (1,546 pts). Add the blu-ray to your cart, go to checkout, and in the promo code box, enter glory. Just some words of warning: the item comes quickly once it ships, but it can take 2-4 weeks before the item actually ships.

Re: One/Only HD/BD Bargains Thread Pt. IV: Back To Bargains

Not a *huge* deal, but anyone with an open Columbia House DVD account can get 3 Blu-Rays off a select list for $60 for the next few days.

(The list to choose from is pretty extensive and includes high-MSRP preorders like Gran Torino and This Is Spinal Tap.)

Is that for next week's ad?

If so I'm probably in for Benjamin Button, Taken and Underworld: ROTL

I passed on getting all of those release week as I didn't want to pay $24.99-29.99 a piece for them.

FYI, Casino Royale at Amazon briefly fluctuated up to $28 today, so you might want to hop on the $15 price while it lasts.
