The Day After is on Sci-Fi right now. Its one of my favorite movies about what would happen in a nuclear war. Everytime it airs though it reminds me of another movie that came out around the same time. It took place in England and was alot more graphic than the Day After. Does anyone know the name of this movie and if its available on video? I'd really like to see it again.

I would love to see a re-make of The Day After. I remember how much impact and controversy that movie caused when it was first aired, although at the time I was too young to understand what the big deal was.

The movie that came out around the same time is called "Threads" totally realistic. 1984 BBC Movie Banned in Britain. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A653311 I can't believe I missed 'The Day After' I've been wanting to see it for 23 years!

Threads (which is a fantastic movie, BTW), is available on DVD in Region 2:

Ron -- I don't know how you managed to bump up a 5-year old thread, but you can rest assured that you didn't just 'miss' the movie. You can buy/rent The Day After. It's been available on DVD for a while:

I never thought The Day After had as much impact as Special Bulletin. The fact that it covered the detination of a bomb in Charleston through news reports in near-real-time made it hit much closer to home.

For those of you desperate to see THE DAY AFTER on TV, or to Tivo it, you do realize it's available for a pittance on DVD, right?

Special Bulletin was great. Only thing I didn't like was the constant "This is only a TV Movie" warnings before and after each commecial break. Destroyed what the show was trying to accomplish (that this was a REAL broadcast)

I'd love to see Special Bulletin again, last I checked it wasn't available on DVD.
Threads was seriously disturbing. It was so depressing it practically made Day After seem like a romantic comedy.
