Dog Bites Man - 6/7

Anyone else catch this last night? I was really looking forward to this and was terribly let down. Maybe the next one will be better

the usually fickle Tom Shales (Washington Post TV critic) liked it, missed it though, will try to catch a repeat of the first episode.

It did have a few funny moments, but I found it to be mostly obnoxious. It struck me many times that the show expected me to be just rolling with laughter, yet spent most of the half hour just straight-faced and, quite frankly, a bit bored. I will give it at least one more try, though, since it did have a few funny lines, but I am not hopeful.

I think the only time I laughed out loud was when they mentioned tying 2 bunnies together.. Also, when they are interviewing people, do the people think they are on a 'real' show or do they get the goof?

The idea is brillant, but the execution is lacking

I liked it quite a bit, but I'm a fan of Walsh and Galafanackis already.

I, too, thought it had its moments but overall it was somewhat tedious.

But it was the first episode so I am still trying to warm up to it. The next episode looks to be pretty funny - so that can only help.

Funny thing about Galafanackis (or however you spell his name)... Watching the promos for it for a few weeks, I was excited that he was going to be on it... Then I watched the show last night and I didn't think it was. Not just because they didn;t use his name, but i guess i'm used to his full beard or something, but I was all bummed it wasn't him.. Then I went on comedycentral.com, and was surprised that it was him

I haven't seen it yet, but from the descriptions I can't figure out what this is. Is it a bunch of interviewers in character interviewing real people (like the Daily Show interview segments or the Colbert Report)? Or is it a Reno 911 style mockumentary? Or some of hybrid of the two?

What a horrible, unfunny show. Zach Galifianakis was the only person worth watching. The rest of the cast was horrific. I'd be amazed if the show lasts more than a few episodes.

and that's really the only reason I want to watch this series, Zach's a riot (I really miss his VH1 show) , he was definately the highlight of the film 'The Comedians of Comedy'

I'm a big fan of Zach's and like the UCB, so I gave the show a shot.

Conceptually it is a good idea. The cast is good. But somehow the execution just comes off really flat. I cannot tell if it is underwritten and too improvised, or overwritten, or what? I just wasn’t very amused except in moments.

It needs a LOT of improvement..for something they hyped so much, the first show was pretty aweful.

Likewise. The first half was funnier than the second, but I was laughing pretty steadily throughout.

Zach Galifianakis has worn my glasses.

I’m not sure if that is some kind of code for something else, but I bow down to you anyway.

Ha. I've seen him live a couple of times, and at the last show in Athens, he used my glasses for his "pretentious illiterate" impression. I just like the way "Zach Galifianakis has worn my glasses" looks.

The first episode was hit or miss, I can definately see the mixed reviews for it. But the second episode really brought the funny. It captures the whole concept much better than the first episode, and has much more to work with in terms of a humorous storyline.

I've Season passed it, hoping that the show is more like the second episode than the first.

i downloaded the episode off of iTunes when it was free a couple of days back. It seemed like a poor mix of Anchorman and the office. Wasn't that impressed.

I agree, I thought the second episode was much better.

Okay, I have to comment on the first episode - it was crap, blah blah blah - but that's not my point - there was something very ironic about this episode.

This article ( http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_ho...s/5045342.html ) is about how proffesional bodybulder Craig Titus was recently arrested for murder.

Now, there was a scene in the first episode, backstage at the bodybuilding competition, the news "crew" couldn't find anything interesting to report, so they made up a false story that one of these bodybuilders had gone berserk and killed someone in the parking lot. As they were describing the strangulation "on air" guess what bodybuilder loomed briefly in the background? You guessed it, friggin Craig Titus! Completely jacked too. Geez.

Zack fans should run out and get the Out Cold DVD. One of my guilty pleasures.
