Best Buy just doesn't want me to buy dvds from them. They want me to go to Circuit City again. Oh well. I think I'll take Desperado and 12 Monkeys for $7.49.

Best Buy's prices recently

Best Buys prices on new releases have been pretty high in the last months or so. Their sale prices have been consistently beaten by Circuit City, even Tower Records, and FYE on opening week. Has anyone notised that they have drastically decreased the dvd shelf space in their stores, and the number of titles they carry. In addition, they have increased the base prices of cheap DVDs (what used to be 5.99, now is 6.99 or more). Does this mean they are trying to get out of the DVD sales althogether?
Either ways great prices at CC on both Million Dollar Baby and Dodgeball UE.
Thanks.

is the 7.49 Legend at Circuit City the 2-disc?

Anyway, probably nothing for me this week.

I read somewhere that Best Buy custom fits its inventory for the area it's located. If it's a Best Buy located in a place saturated with hardware geeks, it specializes in hardware. If it's in a place saturated with sci fi geeks, it specializes in sci fi stuff. They have their own little codenames for each area of interest, but that's the gist of it. Maybe your area has proven to be light on dvd sales, thus decreasing the number of dvds and increasing the price of the ones they leave to make up the revenue....

Tales From The Crypt is very tempting at $20...

But then again, $19.80 at DDD with no tax is more-so.

Last edited by reverie; 07-08-05 at 11:46 AM. Reason: DDD cheaper price

I'm pretty sure that Best Buy does this. You probably read this in the article on "Devil" and "Angel" customers.

tales from the crypt is 6 episodes and the local best buy has rearranged their store and the DVD's are right by the main entrance where the Cell phone and CD's used to be ever since they first opened it.

what is this: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Spike (Best Buy Exclusive)?

sounds like a compilation of episodes with spike? maybe it'll have some extras or commentaries not found in the season sets.

I havent bought a DVD from Best Buy in a while. Circuit City has been having much better prices and especially much better sales. I cleaned up last week on the 4.99 DVD's. I hate shopping at my Circuit City because their DVD section is so disorganized, but if they keep having these sales then I guess I'll suffer

CircuitCity does have much better prices, unfortuately im stuck with one of those "Mini" stores in my area and their DVD section is absolute garbage. Pretty much just a rack like the ones you see at the checkout aisles in the supermarket that hold the gum and tabloids, thats the extent of their DVD selection. One rack like that. So im pretty much screwed when they have great deals because 99% of the time they aren't gonna carry any of those titles that are on sale.

Any price on the Bill & Ted Box set?
And will 19.99 be the best price for A Very Long Engagement?

Yep, it's just a compilation of Spike episodes. I doubt it has anything extra.

Most likely, yes. However, it could go down in a few months since it's somewhat obscure. I'd advise renting it for now.

Wow! I love The Oblongs, and didn't know they were being released on dvd. Does anyone know if this is a BB Exclusive only for X number of days, or forever? If it's only exclusive for a limited time, I'll probably wait on a better price at DDD or whatever, but if not, I may pick it up next week.

I think I'll get He-Man at BB... packaging and docs are supposed to be pretty cool. I'll use the rest of my credit at The Wherehouse for MDB.

I think they hold the rights to it for 3 months.

But yeah, why would they sell it at full retail price until then?

It's not like it has a ton of fans willing to pay for it...

Here's the extras, by the way (from TVShowsOnDVD.com)

* It's an Oblong World:
The show's concept, characters and casting
* The Art of the Oblongs:
Angus Oblong-guided tour of his original artwork for the series
* An Oblong Picture Book:
Angus Oblong drawings gallery

Yeah, I noticed that it was full retail after I had already posted. I'll probably hold off on it until it gets sold elsewhere, because 30 bucks for a 13 ep series (each episode about 22 minutes) doesn't sound worth it to me.
