Cowboy Bebop viewing order?
Am I to understand that the CB movie is set a time period during the series and not after? We're about to view this series straight through (only caught bits and pieces on Cartoon Network over the years), and I'm *that kind* of person, I want them in the right order.
thanks

It does take place during the series between episodes 22 & 23.

There are two ways of looking at it. The first is that the movie takes place in between episodes 22 and 23 as Maxflier said. The other is that it takes place immediately following the final episode, episode 26.
I would recommend watching the 26 episodes and then the movie.

what kstublen said. Even though chronologically the movie takes place during the series I found it more of a treat after watching the whole show. Then again, it had been like a year since I watched the show so it was a nice throwback. Still, if you're watching them back to back it would still fit in just fine after the show.

Hmm, I guess another question would be which gives a better sense of finality to the characters?

Re: Cowboy Bebop viewing order?
I'm still not convinced either way...
Let me give an example of another series we watched and I changed the order of the eps. Enterprise S4, the final one with that that one final episode that just took a collective dump on the chest of any remaining Trekkers that were still hanging on to the series at that point. We had kinda given up on ENT during it's broadcast run, but we had tuned in for a few S4 eps when I heard it was getting better. So we grabbed a used copy of the DVDs and when we got near the end of the season, I played These Are The Voyages before the final four eps (In a Mirror, Darkly two parter, and the Demons/Terra Prime two parter). Even though technically out of order, it was a much better flow of episodes and a much better way to send off the series.
So with that in mind where should I watch the CB movie?
And a big thanks for everyone's patience with this silly little topic of mine.

Think of it this way... the movie didn't exist when the series ended, thus watch the movie after the series. This is how I pretty much watch anything, and it keeps continuity with how things were originally viewed.

For those wondering, the issue has been tabled as we have instead started Super Dimension Fortress Macross (the old AnimeIgo black box, subtitled only version).
I'll let you all know later what we decide on CB.
