SANTA MONICA, CA (December 12, 2017) – Aniplex of America is proud to announce that Record of Grancrest War will begin streaming in January 2018 on Crunchyroll and Hulu. The new anime is based on the light novel series by Ryo Mizuno, who is best known for the fantasy novel Record of Lodoss War, which sold over 10 million copies in Japan. In a recently released English subtitled trailer by Aniplex of America, fans got a glimpse into the series’ story, which opens with a passionate declaration of allegiance by mage, Siluca Meletes, played by voice actress, Akari Kito (ERASED, BLEND-S). The series also stars Kentaro Kumagai (Charlotte, Fate/Grand Order – First Order -) as vagrant knight Theo Cornaro, whose ambitions of freeing his homeland from oppression is the central plotline of the series. Mamoru Hatakeyama will be directing the series with the animation studio, A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, ERASED, Blue Exorcist). The series is scheduled to premiere on January 5, 2018 at 8:30 am PST on Crunchyroll and Hulu.

SANTA MONICA, CA (December 12, 2017) – Aniplex of America announced today that they will begin streaming the brand new anime series, Slow Start, on Crunchyroll beginning January 6, 2018 at 9 am PST. Animated by A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist) and directed by Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Magical Girl Raising Project, Is the Order a Rabbit?), the series is based on a popular 4-panel manga by Yuiko Tokumi in Manga Time Kirara, a seinen manga magazine from renowned publisher Houbunsha. In addition to being the first ever in Japan to put out a 4-panel manga magazine, Houbunsha is the publisher for another popular 4-panel manga series, BLEND-S, which served the basis for the smash hit anime by the same name in fall of 2017. Masato Anno (Eromanga Sensei, Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) is in charge of character design with music by Yoshiaki Fujisawa (Love Live! School idol project, No Game, No Life Zero).

At a press conference to announce Mamoru Hosoda's new Mirai no Mirai (Mirai in the Future) film on Wednesday, director Mamoru Hosoda and producer Yuichiro Saito discussed more details about the film.
Saito revealed that Studio Chizu was offering the foreign distribution rights to the film during the Cannes Film Festival in May, and that the film is already slated to open in 57 countries, with negotiations underway for North America and France. Saito added that the deals include a requirement to screen the film in theaters first, in addition to broadcast and streaming rights. Charades — a new international sales banner launched by Carole Baraton (formerly at Wild Bunch), Yohann Comte, and Pierre Mazars (formerly at StudioCanal) — represented the film at Cannes. Comte handled sales on Hosoda's previous film The Boy and The Beast when he was deputy head of sales at Gaumont.
Saito also revealed that the movie's runtime is around 100 minutes. He noted that while people might think a shorter runtime makes the movie easier to make, that is not actually the case. Auditions are currently ongoing for voice talent.
Hosoda revealed that the film's actual setting is Yokohama, "somewhere uptown, near Isago and Kanazawa wards." He did not specify whether the setting will be important to the specific plot events in the movie, but the location is part of an important past event for the family in the story.
Hosoda clarified that he keeps making works with a family theme because he is not done writing about the topic, and said that it can't be portrayed in one work alone. He added that even if the film is produced in Japan, it has a universality to it that will appeal to the foreign market.

Funimation has acquired the rights to release Gintama series 3 (also known as Gintama°, episodes 266-316) on home video!!
We know Gintama fans probably have a lot of questions about this. Currently we only have the rights to these episodes at this time. The first half, episodes 266-291, are hitting Blu-ray/DVD March 27. This release has sub AND dub streaming on FunimationNow

We announced our licensing of the first two GALAXY EXPRESS 999 films for Blu-Ray release back in June at @AnimeNEXT. Right now it's looking like a mid/late 2018 release. Look forward to it!
Yes! Both GALAXY EXPRESS 999 Blu-Ray releases will include the dubbed version, as well as Japanese with subtitles. Other extras TBD.

'Takunomi' follows the story of Michiru Amatsuki, a 20-year-old woman who just moved to Tokyo to change jobs. She lives in apartment 101 of Stella House Haruno, an all-female boarding house. There, she meets other women of different ages, jobs, and personalities. They all have something in common though: their love for good food and drinks.
The series will start in the Winter 2018 season and will be available for streaming exclusively on HIDIVE starting in January 2018. 'Takunomi' comes to Sentai from Production IMS' studio. It is directed by Kobayashi, Tomoki ('Akame ga Kill!') and Katsuhiko Takayama ('ef: A Tale of Memories', and 'Sakurada Reset') is working on the script. This new story with Slice of Life, Comedy and Shounen elements is sure to have some good times for all.

GKIDS Acquires 'Lu Over the Wall' and More Masaaki Yuasa Titles
An English-language version of 'Lu Over the Wall' will premiere at Sundance.
Indie distributor GKIDS acquired North American distribution rights for a slate of animated features from anime director Masaaki Yuasa. This includes Lu Over the Wall, which won the Grand Prize last spring at the Annecy International Animation Festival; an English dubbed version is slated to premiere at Sundance.
It also includes Night Is Short, Walk on Girl, winner of the Grand Prize at the Ottawa Animation Festival. Additionally, Yuasa's 2004 cult classic Mind Game will get a theatrical release in February.
Lu Over the Wall is a fairy tale about a little mermaid who comes ashore in a lonely fishing village and bonds with a boy in a middle-school rock band. Night Is Short, Walk on Girl takes place over the course of a strange and alcohol-drenched night, as a young woman known only as The Girl With Black Hair drinks her way through Kyoto.
GKIDS' latest releases include Oscar contender The Breadwinner, which recently won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for best animation feature and earned a Golden Globe nomination.

VIZ Media has secured the digital streaming, EST, home video and merchandise rights from Shueisha Inc. The series is set to premiere in Japan this April on TV Tokyo.
In addition, VIZ Media is partnering with Televix Entertainment to present CAPTAIN TSUBASA to Latin American buyers at the upcoming NATPE market (Miami, FL, January 16-18). Televix represents all broadcast and digital licensing rights in Latin American territories, and will be taking meetings at the Fontainebleau Hotel Tresor Tower Suite 1708.

The manga triggered a huge soccer boom in Japan and inspired three previous television anime series, four anime films, mobile and console video games, and even a stage play. Centered on a young soccer prodigy named Tsubasa Oozora, the new series is from David Production (JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE), with Toshiyuki Kato (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Diamond is Unbreakable, Level E) directing. Each episode is characterized by dynamic and stylish soccer moves, while the characters are fleshed out through Tsubasa's friendships and rivalries as he trains and competes.
