HOUSTON, TX — March 5, 2025 — Spring arrives early with today’s announcement from AMC Networks’ HIDIVE that the new supernatural historical fantasy series Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho will launch the upcoming simulcast season on the anime streaming service. Based on the popular fantasy manga & novel series created by Motoo Nakanishi, Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho will kick-off HIDIVE’s exclusive Spring 2025 line-up when it debuts with a special 60-minute first episode on Monday, March 31 at 8:30 am Eastern, which will be followed thereafter with new 30-minute episodes every Monday at 11:00 am Eastern. In addition, as part of today’s announcement, HIDIVE released the official English subtitled trailer for the show. “We’re thrilled to kick-off HIDIVE’s Spring 2025 simulcast season with the exciting new series Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho offers a gripping mix of fantasy, action, adventure and drama that will transport fans on a truly epic centuries-spanning journey!” In the Edo period, there was a shrine maiden called "Itskihime" in the mountain village of Kadono. Jinta, a wandering orphan who, along with his younger sister Suzune, drifted into the village and grew up to become the shrine maiden's guardian, ventures into the forest to defeat a mysterious demon who speaks to him of the far future and the threat of a Demon God. So begins this epic supernatural historical fantasy series that follows a demon hunter through his century-spanning journey from the Edo to Heisei periods—all-the-while questioning his wielding of a sword. Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho is adapted from Motoo Nakanishi’ s original novel and manga series. The 14-volume light novel series of Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho is published by Futabasha, and the now seven-volume-long manga series written by Motoo Nakanishi and illustrated by Yū Satomi, which launched in September 2021 is published under Futabasha's Action Comics label. English language versions of both the manga and light novel are available from Seven Seas Entertainment. The anime series is directed by Kazuya Aiura along with writing by Deko Akao, character design by Taro Ikegami and production by Yokohama Animation Laboratory. Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho stars Taku Yashiro as Jinta, Reina Ueda as Suzune and Saori Hayami as Shirayuki. |

Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon Anime Movie North America Release Dates Announced The event-style release will begin on April 13 Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that the upcoming Kaiju No. 8 omnibus film, titled Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon, will release in the United States and Canada starting April 13! The event-style screenings will debut on April 13, 14 and 16, and be available both in Japanese with English subtitles and an English dub. Other international releases will be announced at a later date. The Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon omnibus will feature a condensed recap of the first season of Kaiju No. 8, followed by an original new episode titled Hoshina's Day Off. In celebration of DAN DA DAN’s return, the global theatrical rollout, released as DAN DA DAN: EVIL EYE, outside of Japan, begins on May 30th from Muse in Asia, in North American theaters on June 6th from GKIDS, and in European theaters from ADN on June 7th. The series begins streaming worldwide this July. The critically lauded and wildly popular show returns for a new chapter, following the first season’s conclusion in December 2024. With production from the acclaimed animation studio Science SARU (DEVILMAN crybaby, INU-OH, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off), the series’ second season is co-directed by Fuga Yamashiro, director of the first season, and longtime Science SARU veteran Abel Gongora, who directed the highly acclaimed opening theme animation of the series’ first season. Composer kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man, DEVILMAN crybaby) returns to the production for the score. The first season of DAN DA DAN was a global breakout series of 2024. The blistering and genre-bending sci-fi comedy romance garnered widespread critical and audience acclaim for its fantastic animation, sharp writing, and endearing characters. The first season’s opening theme song “Otonoke” from the hit duo Creepy Nuts became a social media phenomenon, maintaining record-breaking run at No. 1 for 20 weeks on the Billboard Global Japan Songs list. The series was praised by The New York Times, Washington Post, Teen Vogue, and more, with global audiences eagerly awaiting the show’s return. DAN DA DAN is a television adaptation of author Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga of the same name, which is currently serialized in the wildly popular “Shonen Jump Plus” by SHUEISHA, under the globally beloved Shonen Jump imprint. Yukinobu Tatsu previously worked as an assistant to acclaimed author Tatsuki Fujimoto on his global hit series “Chainsaw Man” and “Fire Punch,” and Yuji Kaku on “Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku.” The original manga series recently crossed 10 million in sales, more than doubling its circulation following the global success of animated series. Worldwide Theatrical Premiere Release In celebration of the return of DAN DA DAN, the theatrical premiere, releasing as DAN DA DAN: EVIL EYE, kicks off the thrillingly eerie EVIL EYE arc, which began in the last episode of the first season. The DAN DA DAN: EVIL EYE theatrical event screens last season’s start of the EVIL EYE arc, along with the first three episodes of the new second season, in addition to an exclusive interview with series co-directors Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Gongora. The global theatrical rollout will cover over 50 countries and regions. Further release details will be announced in collaboration with the theatrical premiere partners in each region. Global streaming release DAN DA DAN will stream globally this July.
