Ascendent Animation Announces an English Dub of “Caressing My Hibernating Bear”

LOS ANGELES, CA - FEBRUARY 2023 - Ascendent Animation is proud to announce their latest acquisition, “Caressing My Hibernating Bear”. (森のくまさん、冬眠中) Alongside this acquisition, we are also proud to announce the production of an English dub of the series.

Caressing My Hibernating Bear is being dubbed in partnership with the Japanese company, WWWave Corporation. The show is based off of a Japanese manga written and illustrated by the artist, HaruChika.

The story centers on a bear named Nowa who lives in the forest. Nowa found a puppy named Airi a few years ago, and is now raising him. When Nowa goes into hibernation for the winter, Airi is still but a pup, however, when Nowa awakes from his hibernation, he finds Airi has now grown into an adult dog.

The show follows an adult romantic storyline, featuring tender moments, relationship woes, and passionate stories. Each episode runs about 8 minutes long., Kevin Frane (428 Shibuya Scramble, Resonance of Fate, Demon King Evelogia) will be directing the English version. Steve Warky Nunez (Henkei Shoujo, Luminous Avenger IX-2, Sonic the Hedgehog), will helm the audio engineering/mixing, and Assistant Director will be P.M. Seymour (Demon King Evelogia, Gunvolt 3, Genshin Impact). Once more, K. Cornell Kellum (Vice Squad, The Titan's Bride, Henkei Shoujo), will return as Executive Producer. Also returning is Reece Bridger with Talent Sourcing from No Studio In Particular.

When asked about the show, Frane commented, “As a gay man, I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with other LGBTQ+ talent in bringing this title to an English-speaking audience. These are some truly delightful characters and I look forward to seeing a new group of fans getting to know them.”

The Coolmic website is publishing the manga in English digitally under the title, “Caressing the Nipples of My Hibernating Bear”.

To celebrate today’s news, Sentai and MBS revealed for the first time ever that The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: from Villainess to Savior will be part of the programming line-up. The new show is a 12-episode series based on the hit fantasy light novel by Tenichi and published by Ichijinsha Inc. Awards received include the Comic Cmoa E-Comic Award 2022 and the 1st Iris NEO Fantasy Award. Scheduled to premiere July 2023, The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: from Villainess to Savior will be directed by Norio Nitta and written by Deko Akao with animation by OLM, Inc.. MBS’ slate of shows also includes the Winter 2023 simulcast series Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte which HIDIVE announced at Anime NYC last November. The remaining titles will be announced in the future.

HOUSTON, TX — March 16, 2023 — Ahead of the kick-off of its Spring 2023 Season, HIDIVE today revealed its complete line-up of simulcast series that will premiere starting in April. The company detailed five shows that, together with earlier announcements, caps-off its slate of new and continuing series streaming next season. These five titles are alice gear aegis Expansion, Insomniacs after school, Otaku Elf, TOKYO MEW MEW NEW (Season 2) and TOO CUTE CRISIS.

“We’re thrilled to bring this exciting slate of new simulcast series to HIDIVE this spring,” said John Ledford, President of HIDIVE. “From comedy and fantasy to drama and sci-fi, HIDIVE will be home to some of the best shōnen, shōjo and seinen anime premiering in Japan next season. Rounding out its list of Spring 2023 Season simulcasts are the two eagerly awaited series 【OSHI NO KO】 and The Dangers in My Heart, which were announced late last year during HIDIVE’s Industry Panel at Anime NYC. Altogether, HIDIVE will offer subscribers more than a half dozen simulcast series next season.

Otaku Elf is part of Sentai’s multi-year anime content agreement with Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS) announced by AMC Networks earlier this month.

Viz Media Poised to Score With Soccer Anime Series ‘Captain Tsubasa’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Viz Media has picked up a wide collection of rights in North America and Latin America to animated Japanese sports series “Captain Tsubasa: Junior Youth Arc.”

The series is adapted from a popular manga by Yoichi Takahashi and is licensed by Shueisha Inc. The deal includes digital streaming, TV, electronic sell-thru, home video and merchandise rights for North and Latin American territories.

The new series is currently being produced by Studio KAI, with the official main staff including: director Ono Katsumi; character design and executive animation director, Watanabe Hajime; and series composition, Tomioka Atsuhiro. The voice cast includes Sanpei Yuko as Tsubasa Ozora, Gukuyama Jun as Karl Heinz Schneider and Suzumura Kenichi as Wakabayashi Genzo and Hyuga Kojiro as Sato Takuya. It is set to launch October 2023.

BD from Crunchyroll is pretty much a matter of when. The earliest release time frame could be July (unless it's a late solicitation). And it's unknown if CR will be releasing it on 4K UHD (Japan will be releasing one). Several countries will be releasing this on home video before Japan. Licensing (home video, streaming,...) can be very strange when it comes to Toei Animation.
