I assume that means it has to be someone on your friends list or someone you initiated inviting into your party/team and that you won't be able to chat or hear chat from just randoms
You can set your fireteam to match with randoms IIRC.

Breaksclusive!
Sony developer says Sony game's graphical fidelity can only be handled by Sony's latest console
Ready at Dawn, the studio behind the upcoming third-person shooter, The Order: 1886, has revealed the game's visual quality could have only been achieved on the PlayStation 4.
Isn't this game only running at 1920x800 because they're lazy devs who still foolishly think games are art or something? <- many winks required here.

Still, I want this game more than any other game right now, except maybe D4, but for very different reasons. Feb 2015 is still much too far away.

Sony exclusive dev says their game can only be achieved on a Sony platform? Shocker! ~

I have to keep repeating this mantra so it sinks into people's thick skulls, but "games", by their very definition, cannot be art. They may have artistic elements, and they may be able to be played artfully, but games, in and of themselves are not, and cannot be art. Anyone who thinks they are, is insecure in this hobby of theirs, wanting it to be something it's not.

Even rabid sports fans don't think baseball, for example, is art. Why do so many videogame fans keep insisting videogames are art? I think it's because they feel comparatively marginalize and feel that it's a way to legitimize something they like. Again, insecurity.

So you are insecure if you think a storytelling medium can be art?

News to me.

You bitches are insecure!

You weren't checking the PSN Games thread where I copied the latest Blog posts last week detailing the pre-order bonuses. I bet you also missed that it will be a triple Cross Buy title once the PS3 and PS Vita versions get finished.

Oh, you mean games. Well I think it depends on the game. I haven't played Journey, but from the clips I've seen, I'd argue the game is a work of art. If an experience of watching a movie is considered art, why not games? Especially ones where the world is created by artists where players are free to explore and ponder. How's that any different from pondering a film, book, painting etc . Just because it is interactive doesn't take away from the art. Maybe I'm wrong, and art doesn't involve interaction. But why limit art in this way?

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Guys, stop. There are games to play, dammit!

Spoiler:
There's an excellent book called The Family Fang that I recommend. It's about a family of performance artists, and somehow this conversation always reminds me of that. Check it out.I listened to the audiobook, which was quite good.

Spoiler:
would this game be considered art? http://mountain-game.com/

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

traded in Watch Dogs at Target for a $40 gift card (double trade in value on videogames through tomorrow)

I used to always keep my games but kind of hard to pass that up when these games don't have a lot of replay value and I can buy it later if wanted for less money

this after having previously purchasing Watch Dogs with $54 credit received (triple trade in value) from trade in of inFAMOUS

Yeah I wanted to keep Infamous but $54 during the last trade-in week was too insane to pass up. That and the fact the DLC doesn't require the disc makes it even sweeter.

Yep...that was my feeling with Infamous and Wolfenstein when I traded both in at B.B Got a decent amount back on both. With Wolfenstein the Gift Card ($35.00) is going to The Last of Us so it's about paid for. I'm looking for the new Infamous DLC and it's cool they made it seperate from the disc. A very good move on their part...hopefully others might do this with other games that have a key character in the game you would like to play as....

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

For you former Xbox guys and current multiconsole guys, I thought you might find this interesting.

The Xbox One thumbsticks are a perfect 1:1 swap with the PS4 thumbsticks (and I assume vice versa?):

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/mVTLCcl4hr0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So if you have both consoles, you could have the same sticks on all of your controllers, which I would think would be advantageous. If you were a former 360 guy, you could maybe have something that feels a little more familiar. And everybody else could maybe have more reliable sticks. I checked, and they are pretty cheap on ebay. Couple of bucks. And the mod looks super easy.
