Re: Mass Effect 3
Nice, I hadn't heard that because I try to avoid spoilers when possible.
I haven't played any of the ME2 DLC yet (though owning all but The Arrival thanks to sales). I plan to get to all of them eventually.
If I like a game, I have no problem paying for and playing through the DLC. If the DLC is required to understand the sequel, then the writers fail at setting the stage during the sequel. Since we know there will be an introduction in ME3 for people that didn't play ME2 (like ME2 had for ME1-less people). I would imagine that would, at least, roughly cover the essential story points, DLC or otherwise.

Mass Effect 3 Delayed to 2012
Electronic Arts is delaying the release of Mass Effect 3 into early 2012.
Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series, made the announcement through the game's official Facebook page.
"Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone's expectations."

Re: Mass Effect 3
Normally I'd be dissappointed by this news, but with Skyrim coming in November, I have no problem with it. Saves me the trouble of having to decide which one to tackle first.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Since they apparently decided against it for DA2, hopefully they remembered they have to do some actual QA testing and have adjusted the schedule accordingly.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Bethesda doesn't have a track-record of delaying stuff - they tend to stick to their release-dates, and their buggy games are a testament to that. Also, the "11/11/11" release-date for Skyrim is a big part of the marketing.

I don't mind the delay if it's used to polish and properly QA the game.

Re: Mass Effect 3
Sounds like a good set of improvements/additions:
I wonder how/why
New info from OXM:
Spoilers ahead.
* You can jump and roll in the game, and blindfire has been introduced.
* Your weapons have three upgrade slots -scope, barrel and grip, and you can change the colour and camouflage of weapons.
* You may be able to get an eyepiece, like Garrus’s, that will allow non-sniper weapons to scope in further, which also hints at armour having more of an effect on gameplay.
* Bioware is going to announce something big at E3 – a lot of the gameplay features and more squadmates.
