Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

So, if I read correctly Pinata drove for 2.5 hours and then gave a blowjob to Target's front cashier?

so, again, where's the line?

Not true. I have priced matched TRU ads at the front register many times. This is more of a special case.

Here it's true. All the cashiers send me to CS so I changed my routine. Even with a normal ad.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Pricematched the Target price for F3:GOTY today at BB during lunch. $39.99 minus $10 reward zone points = awesome deal. Thanks pinata. Now to see if I can make some side money on the second disc after I install it. It would be cool if we could share it.

Amazon upped their ante and now the standard/hardened edition of MW2 comes with $20 whereas prestige is still at $10. Hope walmart and amazon continue to duke it out

I am kicking myself for not preordering Modern Warfare 2 from amazon back when the 30% eca stack was working. Would have only been $22 after the gift card.

I didn't even know about (intentional) stacking until the codes got pulled. Still, $72-$20 GC for the Hardened is a pretty good deal in my book.

First it was Toys R Us, then Amazon joined the party. Best Buy showed up a week late and now Gamestop doesn't want you to forget about them either. According to CAG they will be having a B2G1 next week on used titles.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Remember the SI Madden deal? They've got a new one:
NBA Live 10 + Greatest Moments In NBA History DVD + 1 year SI for $59.

https://subs.timeinc.net/SI/si_nbali...questid=385119

This is a little better deal than the Madden one which was 6 months for $50.

I just signed up. Madden took about 8 weeks to arrive, but it was still worth it.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Duplicate post, because it's such a smoking deal:

Wow, Walmart is selling the 360 Arcade unit for $199 with $100 Gift Card starting Saturday 11/7. Anyone who hasn't yet upgraded to the newer chip model should do so NOW!

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Indeed, that sounds like a great deal.
I think the only negative is that the Arcade doesn't come with a hard drive or HDMI/component cables, but for a backup machine or more 'casual' players, it would be ideal.

Let the holiday season price wars begin!

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Debating one for the bedroom... I have a spare 20gb drive and a MU for my profile. I may have to actually get a 2nd Gold account in my household in case there was a big demand for mutliple functions simultaneously (NetFlix, Gaming, Last.fm, whatever).

Free $100 in groceries with a $200 purchase isn't a bad deal...

The HDMI cable is so damned cheap, it's not even worth mentioning. I agree that the 360 is pretty useless without a hard drive. I bought an Arcade last December to replace my super-loud near-launch model. Even if it wasn't fighting RRoDs at the time, it was worth the upgrade. For only $100 essentially, now it really is worth picking up as a replacement unit. Wish it didn't have that ugly white disc tray, though.

Decker, does the new one run faster, or just more quiet?

Hmmm...I think I just bought a 360. $116 to play Gears/L4D/Mass Effect/Dead Rising/Ace Combat/Fable 2.

Questions:

1. Any of those I can't play without a HD?
2. What's a used/small HD going for used these days?
3. Does it upscale DVDs at all? I'd love to lighten the load on my 60 GB PS3.
4. Can I play L4D and TF2 (for instance) online without a gold membership?

I know I should already know this stuff...so thanks in advance.

It is much quieter and consumes less power. I don't think it is any faster though.

With this deal, it should pretty much be a no-brainer to upgrade to a Jasper if you haven't already and if you can find things to buy at Walmart that you have to purchase anyways (groceries usually). Put the old one on Craigslist and dump your jet engine old 360 off on someone else.

1. If I recall, Dead Rising has some issues with text being super small in standard def.
2. Maybe $35 - $40 for a 20GB used? You could probably find a better deal than that. They also make 60 and 120 GB versions.
3. Not positive, but I think only the HD-DVD add-on upscales. Absolutely not sure on that, I don't use my 360 for DVDs.
4. No.

Also, that Arcade model isn't going to include wireless, if that's a concern.

Thank you.

1. I meant a hard drive...not hi-def...sorry.
2. Sounds reasonable
3. That stinks, if true.
4. That stinks even more.

$50/year to play online, for Netflix and no upscaling...all of which my PS3 does for free.

So I guess I have to decide whether it would be worth picking one up just for the single player exclusives that I'm interested in (Fable 2, Ace Combat 6, Gears 1&2, Dead Rising, and Mass Effect).

Time and space are also a factor...hell, I already have a backlog.

All 360s upscale dvds, not just the HD-DVD add-on.
