Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

The TRU rep was giving me grief about getting the GC with two copies of Army of Two (one for me, one for my best friend), so I ended up getting them at Best Buy price matched instead (yes, it took 15 minutes of supervising checking to get it okayed). I guess it turned out okay -- I'm more likely to use a $60 gift card at Best Buy anyway, though I still have like $25 in GC from TRU's pre-Christmas bonus in my wallet.

Was there something in the ad about one copy per person per customer?

Hell, my guy rang up Darksiders twice and the computer had no problem.

Does Dark Void not come out until later in the week, or was it just really popular? my local TRU only had Darksiders, Bayonetta, and Army of Two (and they only had PS3 Bayonetta).

It was released today, so not sure. I know in the past I've had issues with TRU getting new games on release day.

The ad fine print says "Limit One Per Customer", but I assume that means one gift card. There's no logical way it means only one of each game. The wording is "FREE $60 Gift Card When you buy ANY Two of these PS3 or Xbox 360 games : Army of Two, Bayonetta, Darksides or Dark Void" The wording and capitalization is directly off their signs, which I photographed for Best Buy price matching.

The Best Buy CS rep noted (correctly I might add) "This says Army of Two, not The 40th Day which is the sequel", to which I replied, "Ok, if you really think this deal is for three brand new games and one two year old game with a brand new sequel, I guess I'll buy two $20 copies of Army of Two and get a $60 Gift Card for free." She soon changed her mind about that.

They had it at my local store, and in addition, you get a $10 GC when purchasing it, so if you wanted it, you could get it and another from the list plus a $70 GC for $120 + tax. But from what I"ve read, I have no interest in Dark Void until it hits $14.98 at Target clearance (in about three months).

You really think it will take that long? I was in a store today and the clerk said they hadn't sold any, then some kid 8-10 came in asking specifically for Dark Void. The Mom said "You better like this" as they were leaving the store, maybe he enjoyed the demo.

Dude, I would have agreed and went with it... when someone asks you to give them $40, so they can give you $60, you do it

Just note, the Fable 2 is likely not actually the Platinum Hits version. They screwed up my order and were oblivious to the fact that the versions are different.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

^^ Yeah, Xbox Mag voted that as the craptastic game of the year... giving it a 1.5. The original programmer from the LSL's back in the day (Al Lowe I think) went so far as to put out statement saying that he was in no way, shape or form associated with the new game.

I bought it back when it first came out for $20. I returned it the next day. The previous version on PS2 was way better and more fun.

I was in Target last night and noticed the Band Hero set for 360 was on clearance for $139 and there was a pile of MW2: Hardened Editions (360) on clearance for $55.

Raiden IV: LE (comes with soundtrack) is $19.99 on BestBuy.com right now. Next lowest is $33 at Amazon. per usual ~ Courtesy of CAG.

*side note - I didn't know BB started taking PayPal. I had $15 sitting in my account making this $6 out of pocket.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Nabbed one, not sure why I skipped it originally (I guess I just wasn't paying much attention to gaming in 2009).

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Well it was $40 originally while the I-III compilation was only $20. That's why I passed on it.
