Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info
These days I rarely do release-day purchases (i.e. $59.99), but I'm strongly considering it in this case, esp. with the amazon $10 credit. Wonder if it'll be worth it, or if it's better to wait for the inevitable price drop. I just got nothin' right now so am sorely tempted...

Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info
I'm a huge Rockstar Games junkie and have been following this one for a while....what really appeals to me about this game....if they did it right...is that there is no wrong way to complete a case and if you miss certain things...there are actually entire minutes of content to be discovered depending on how you went about trying to resolve a case. For example...if you don't question a certain suspect when given the opportunity...you miss out on a foot chase that leads you to another character of interest and a shootout. This occurs for not just one incident during a case you're on, there are multiple instances in one case that can branch off to multiple different types of content.
So in short.....single player replay value should be pretty high.

It should be high - but I think that like with Heavy Rain, I'm going to play through once - shelve it for a while, then play again.

Well, I (and many others) bought some really, really awful and simplistic Rockstar game for the PS2 in 2002 like nine months after GTA 3, just because it was a Rockstar game. Can't even remember the name of it and can't find it by Googling, but man, it was horrible. Something about killing people in a mall. And all the violence was censored with silhouette figures. In a month, all the local Game Stops and EB Games were drowning in copies. So goodwill will only get you so far. But yeah, I totally expect this game to be great.

Yeah, that was it. God it was terrible. Different studio, I think, but the draw was that it was "The New Game from Rockstar!".

Developed by the minds that brought you:
The Powerpuff Girls: Relish Rampage, Earthworm Jim 3D, Tom and Jerry in Fists of Fury, and Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer.

GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, IV, Bully, Red Dead Revolver, The Warriors, Manhunt...etc. They've had a pretty solid run in the last 10 years for the most part for their narrative based action games.

I've never really cared much for any "rockstar" title - i get a couple hours in, then get bored. This however looks right up my alley. I just hope it's closer to Under a Killing Moon with some Heavy Rain rather than Red Grand Redemption.
