Has a network show ever shown a beheading like that? I was shocked that they didn't cut away.

The season finale of 24:Live Another Day earned a 1.7 up three tenths from last week's 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.

So I guess for this to continue, Heller would have to authorize something (before he resigns or loses his memory) to get Jack out of the gulag? Or Chloe enlists whoever she can get to get him out?

Should have had the roles reversed. Chloe should have died and Audrey should have been taken hostage. Would have been much more fitting.

I was shocked that Audrey actually died. In real life, in the Emergency Department, when we emphatically yell "Stay with me!" over and over again at gunshot wound victims, they almost always pull though.

I don't think Kate was properly trained for that situation. She probably wasn't yelling it correctly.

In that case though, we didn't actually SEE him decapitate the guy, just shoot him and then have his head in a bag later. Which was sufficient for me, frankly. Amazing the a out of queasy violence they could get away with, but no one could say "shit."
And apparently that's just a warmup for what's to come later on.

Next time we see Jack, they might deal with how old he's getting (Kiefer is 47, but the character is much older, considering all the Presidential administrations he's gone through).

From Jon Cassar:
I can see it now...
Chloe: "This is not going to be easy..."
Jack: "Not as easy as it used to be."

From Jon Cassar:
"If Jack Bauer comes back, you just start playing the fact that he is getting older and he is not as fast as he was. And maybe that's part of the new story, that he isn't the machine that he used to be and he has to start dealing with that.
"Because that would be interesting, too. I mean, I would like to see that Jack Bauer."

I liked how when the ship captain told Cheng they can leave the dock in 15 minutes, he asked if there was any way they could expedite this. Because this is 24 and 15 minutes is completely unreasonable. Now 15 seconds - THAT would be much better.

Awesome finale and a great season.
Great scene with pres heller and the PM.
And good call on metal gear, thought that too with the infrared
Also loved the Chloe and jack final scene... Damn it!
I want more!

Loved it, but was I the only one surprised it seemed like the Russians didn't search or bind Jack before sticking him on the helicopter? They should know what he'd be capable of doing with a hidden blade or something like that in a confined area like the inside of the helicopter?

Thought overall this was an excellent season that had a lot of intense and riveting moments. Whether it ever comes back 24 went out in high style this year.

This is what came to mind when it happened, a voiceover saying:
It also left a man's decapitated body lying on the floor next to his own severed head. The head, which of this time, has no name, and Jack saying I know his name !

My only real complaint is that Kate and the other agents didn't take the possibility of extra Cheng henchmen into consideration. They go through hell to get Audrey out of that sniper situation and then all casually just stroll back to the car.

My only complaint is that they killed Audrey. The way it happened just reaked of them deciding she must die no how illogical the killing may be. But I did like the ending as it could be used for an extention of the series if it works out. And if not, as close to a form of closure you can get with a guy that can't just disappear given thsoe that would be searching for him. Sad, but unlike the Audrey killing, very real.

Agree 1000%. They take out one sniper, apparently don't even consider the possibility of another shooter anywhere, and instead of rushing the President's daughter into an armored car or something, they stand around out in the wide open. When the guy back at the station tried to console her, all I could think was, "Well, actually, it was kinda your fault..." Also, she had to call Jack about it right then? Kinda bad timing.
