Supposedly the storyline takes place after SFIII. I do wish they'd add in the parry feature again. That added so much to the game.

Really liking what they go there. Neat that they added destructible walls. I loved SF4. Every goddamn version of it. Excessive almost but it was getting better and better every fucking time.

Capcom gave a free code for PS3 Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition to everyone who played a demo match at their booth. Pretty cool. Now I have to hope against hope that the PS4 version is Cross-Buy.

That's pretty cool. The parry system was great and Alex was one of the very few grapplers in a fighting game that I ever liked. But leave Gil out of it. Grrrr...Gil...cheapest end boss ever.

Nope. Because Sony saved Street Fighter, don't you see? It's totally different.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

Phil Spencer's comments are pretty respectful.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/12/8/735...ts-all-part-of

Fans took to Twitter to react to the news and some asked head of Xbox Phil Spencer his thoughts on the news.

"Business deals happen," Spencer wrote in reply to a question on Twitter about the deal. "We won't do all of them. When we have a 1st party franchise in a genre I'd rather invest in ours."

"I'd love it if Xbox fans could play all of the games, but business just makes some deals happen," he replied to another tweet. "It's all part of competition."

Spencer added, after a fan wrote that delivering a new Banjo-Kazooie or Conker to the Xbox One would make up for the loss of the next Street Fighter on the console, that he loves the idea of "game franchise bartering. I'll work on making amends for SF."
I honestly don't still don't see much of a difference between this and Tomb Raider; I see a lot of comments assuming that Sony helped fund the development and it wouldn't get made otherwise, but even with Capcom's financial difficulties I find it hard to believe Street Fighter wouldn't continue.

Oh well, still hoping XBox will get a "Super" or "Ultra" version down the line.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

For the life of me, I don't understand why this deal happened. Sony has tons of First Party exclusives and doesn't need to deprive Xbox users of this game. They also had a sizable console lead and seriously doubt that this game is going to move the needle for them at all in the console sales dept.
Maybe this is how Capcom wants to run things from now on out : Selling their franchises exclusively to one side of the other?

Phil Spencer, head of Xbox was very classy on Twitter in response to the news :

"Business deals happen. We won't do all of them. When we have a first party franchise in a genre I'd rather invest in ours"

I guess that means he didn't want to get another exclusive fighting franchise since they have KI. Guess that makes sense.

Yeah, that's how I take it.

Microsoft doesn't have their own adventure-style franchise like Uncharted, so they signed Tomb Raider.

Sony doesn't have their own fighting franchise, so they signed Street Fighter.

There's the possibility that there is a difference between this and the Tomb Raider situation, though. It might be more like Bayonetta, actually, where the game may not have been made at all if not for first-party funding. Tomoaki Ayano made it sound that Capcom didn't want to pony up for SF5 in earlier interviews, anyway, and apparently it was a massive struggle to get them to produce SF4.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

I like Street Fighter. It has the best roster of characters of any fighter by far.

I don't really like playing Street Fighter, which my Achievements (GT same as my name here without the space) will attest.

I have purchased SFIV on 3DS and 360, SFII and III (MvC as well) on XBLA and I never play them. It always seems like a good idea, especially when they're on sale, but I don't play fighters and suck at them when I do.

So as an Xbox One owner I can't realistically say I'm too upset about this. I wish I had the option to buy it and never play it but I'll be able to manage without that option.

From now on out?

It seems to me that Capcom has a long history of this kind of thing, from Dead Rising to Lost Planet to Resident Evil.

It also sounds (or at least they are making it sound for PR purposes) like Sony helped with development. And to their credit, they didn't announce the game and then announce it was exclusive two months later.

Re: Street Fighter 5 (Date: TBA) - (timed?) Exclusive to PS4/PC

It sounds like Sony just wanted an exclusive fighting game for the PS4, to compete with KI.

Here's an idea for you Shu: fucking make one. Employ some devs who wouldn't otherwise be employed and add something to the industry and to your platform.

Spoiler:
I've seen those words somewhere.

They have an exclusive fighting game already called Guilty Gear Xrd, but it doesn't count, because reasons. They have two exclusive fighting games if you count Injustice.

And nobody's trying to compete with KI.

My excuse is that I had never heard of it before!

I personally wouldn't count Injustice as necessarily filling that slot since it's a last-gen port (not even a remaster).

If it turns out that SF5 was going to be a multiplatform release and Sony bought exclusivity, then that's kinda scummy. If it wouldn't have existed without Sony opening up their checkbook, then I'm okay with that. Either way, I don't think there's a chance of me getting it until it's inevitably re-released (or re-re-released) with a larger roster, more DLC, etc.

Guilty Gear is very Japanese/anime and the series goes back to the PS1. A demo is in the store, and I think the full game is out next week.

I'm familiar with the franchise but didn't know there was a PS4 exclusive out / on the way.

According to wikipedia, that game is NOT PS4-exclusive; it'll also be on PS3.

Guilty Gear -> Metal Gear -> Metal Slug

Makes sense.

And yeah, also on PS3. PS will get more of certain genres just by virtue of being Japanese. Fighting games will probably be one of those genres, along with JRPGs and quirky shit that nobody understands.

Does a PS3 fightstick work on a PS4? I've never had a reason to check before.
