That's not up to the creators. When they do a network show, the network always has the option to order more episodes. ABC the studio and network controls the rights.

The original order was 13. ...

I could have sworn on one of the computer screens during the aftermath of the attack it said June 2016. So I'm guessing the Quantico scenes are supposed to take place in real time.

The constant jumps between Quantico and post-bombing are getting a little confusing. I thought the editing in Sunday's episode was very choppy....
