Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

While I certainly don't love Megan Fox as an actress the way Ash Ketchum does, I agree wholeheartedly about Rooney Mara. She's got chops, and she should have won for Dragon Tattoo.

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

If The Artist gets more people to see films by Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Melies, Fritz Lang, Murnau, Eisenstein, etc., then great. I'm glad it won. However, if its sole contribution to our culture...

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

I know a lot of people who work in various areas of the film industry, and they all work their asses off. They should get their chance to shine, too. A ton of awards are already relegated to the...

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

Movies about movies featuring dogs and/or kids. Hugo has kids AND dogs, so I'm surprised it didn't win more.

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

I think people should see it before spouting off an opinion about it, but I thought the story was very bland and told very traditionally.

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

I'm further reminded how bad Bridesmaids was. But Scorsese being totally confused was good.

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

Anyone remember "Dames Against Judi Dench"? Why can't they do more stuff like that?

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

Given that I think that only two of the nominees should even be in the running for best picture, yes, I wouldn't be too unhappy if Hugo won. I'd be much happier if Midnight In Paris won, and even...

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

A movie about movies by one of the most respected directors in the business, who never won an Oscar until the 2000's, featuring kids? Yes, it probably will win best picture. And, amazingly, it...

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

In defense of Hugo winning over Tree of Life, it has the best 3D cinematography I've ever seen.

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion

For those who are still curious, Billy Crystal was in The Tooth Fairy with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Also Stephen Merchant and Julie Andrews.

Re: The 84th Academy Awards --> 2012 Awards Show Discussion
