My Morning Jacket last night, final show of their tour, front row in the pit area. They performed a 15 minute version of "Dondante" that was mind-blowing!

I won free meet and greet tickets to Kelly Clarkson and the Fray from a local radio station. Meet and Greet was great, I took my daughter with me, and Kelly was really nice, gave us hugs, complimented my daughter's outfit, got some great pictures. The seat locations that we got couldn't have been worse, Row CCC, near the back of the theater. The concert didn't sell out, so most of the seats around and behind us were empty. After Kelly Clarkson performed, we moved up to Row SS for the Fray, probably could have moved a lot closer, but these were still a large area of empty seats so we knew they weren't taken. Not a concert I would have paid for, but for free, I had some good family time with my daughter.

Train @ Stage AE Pittsburgh, outside. Lots of fun, not much outside the last 2 cds, but they did a cool medley of songs from the older albums. Lots of interaction.

Kiss and Motley Crue. Motley were impressive. Haven't seen them since the 80's. Kiss are always entertaining, but they were plagued by some early sound problems and the whole show just seemed sort of rushed. Still, a great evening. Was impressed on how quickly Motley's stage came apart in between sets.

I went to Colorado over the weekend and saw Umphrey's McGee pack Red Rocks on Friday and and the Boulder Theater on Saturday. Both shows were filmed for DVD's that will get released in 2 weeks. Seen these guys almost 50 times over the past decade and the Red Rocks show was one of the best.
It was also my first time at Red Rocks, my #1 bucket list venue, and it lived up to the hype. It's an absolutley stunning place to take in a concert, can't wait to go back.

Devin Townsend
Katatonia
Paradise Lost
Paradise Lost was alright, very boring on stage. Katatonia didn't thrill anyone I was with. Devin is, and was, awesome. Fantastic player, great sense of humor, and the band seemed to really enjoy themselves.

Beach House last night at House of Blues. It was a great show except for the asshole who threw a can on stage right at Victoria Legrand and then some others who decided to jump on stage. WTF?!

Only stayed Friday night for Avett Brothers & headliner FOO FIGHTERS!
Foo was only able to play a 2 hour set since it was outside, but they of course still rocked. They did a old Van Halen cover (can't remember the song), brought out Joan Jett to do "Bad Reputation", also did a Tom Petty cover.
Perfect weather, well behaved crowd, great location.

Saturday was fun, although there were a lot more people there. During Ludacris' set, he said that there were 52,000 people there, and if the number wasn't exact, I would bet that it wasn't far off. But I agree on all of your points about location, crowd, etc. Definitely one that I would do again, if the lineup is near as good as it was this year.
