Re: Turbokid (s: Michael Ironside)
I just watched this on Netflix and it was a blast and I'm not even drunk! Man, I was chuckling through the fake intro of the laserdisc promotional credit. The synth/new wave soundtrack was great and I loved the gore - it reminded me of the Kill Bill type gore. Man, Apple was pretty cute! I can't believe the actress that played her is 30!
If that deluxe set gets offered on Amazon I will scoop it up but I still won't pay 30$ shipped for it. I wonder if Mondo will release the soundtrack on vinyl?

I was was looking for some sci-fi on Netflix with high ratings to watch that I hadn't seen and this one was pretty much it. Boy I was surprised.
It was much better than I thought it was going to be. Heh. Great stuff.

I'd be even more inclined if she had her red hair.

Watched this again yesterday. I think I enjoyed it even more than my first viewing.
If the filmmakers did a sequel, I wish there was a way for them to

LOVED TK. I'm game for another. Sure... I don't want one but if it it even has an ounce of what the first one had... that's refreshing all the same.
Apple was hot as hell. I love crazy bitches.

If she is back, I hope they find the original wig. The one in that 'prequel' is horrible.

So, I've been wanting to buy this for a while, but couldn't justify the price tag on Amazon. Currently there is a sale on the "2 Year Anniversary Edition" from Epic Pictures: https://epic-pictures.com/merchandis...imited-edition
Each box includes a T-shirt, the 3-Disc Ultra Turbo Charged Collector's Edition DVD/Bluray set, a mini poster and one of three enamel pins.
Total shipped is $38.49. Just buying it by itself on Amazon is about the same price.

Re: Turbo Kid (2015) s: Michael Ironside, Munro Chambers, Laurence Leboeuf
I finally saw this movie.
Even though this film was made for my generation, I thought it looked a little too silly, like Kung Fury. I like my 80s nostalgia to be a little more serious like Stranger Things or This is England.
To my surprise, while the premise is purposely silly, it's played straight. I loved the whole film. The post-apocalyptic world of 1997, with all the 80s left overs of civilization was very detailed.
I liked the the little surprises, and there was just enough mystery in the beginning to keep me hooked as to where the story was going.
I regret not getting this on VHS.
Bumblebee was a letdown, while this was a very pleasant surprise.
I'm going to check out Summer of '84 next.

I was always sad the same people didn't do a sequel to TK. Such a great movie, especially if you grew up renting films like this in the late 80's.
And I adore the score.
