Tarantino

Miles Teller, who wowed Sundance audiences with last year's The Spectacular Now, is less of a known quantity, but based on the ecstatic reception for opening night's Whiplash, that won't last long. In the film, he's a driven music-conservatory student who's driven to bloody obsession by a hard-charging teacher played by J.K. Simmons.

The Bus

Saw this over the weekend. Incredibly tense, edge-of-your-seat, hands clamped excitement. Has a few plot points that veer into the melodramatic or the plain unbelievable but the film recovers quickly. Highest possible recommendation. Go see this.

Simmons was just.. holy fuck. I want to know how much of that was improved. Miles Teller reminded me of a young, somewhat brash Sean Penn.

Best movie of the year for me so far. So good, in fact, it threw a wet blanket on Birdman, which I went to see the next day and found completely tedious in comparison.

Have to agree, best movie i've seen this year. In fact, it's my first 10/10 movie in a couple years. Miles Teller really impressed me, I know JK Simmons has the show piece but Miles is equally as compelling.

Glad to see I'm not the only one rating this as best of the year. I thought it was fantastic. JK Simmons vs Ed Norton for best supporting actor is gonna be a tight tight race.

Fantastic film- his is an iconic character that hopefully Simmons will be remembered for over his Spiderman role. Also want to note how fantastic I found the cinematography, especially in light of its 19 day shooting schedule.

Saw this today, really liked it and one of the top movies of 2014 for sure. Just hand the Best Supporting Actor to JK Simmons already, done deal.

I was surprised at the intensity of this film. Well done, director.

JK Simmons totally deserves the Oscar. Watching his performance in Whiplash gave me the chills. What an amazing performance.

I have a few nitpicks on Simmon's performance but nothing major (overly directed in a few spots, few things came off as a little unnatural) but he was completely fantastic at delivering his lines. Teller was Teller, he's a good actor.

Really solid movie.
