Glad to hear Downey Jr. will be in this but disappointed that Keaton is out. Like others I have no problem with not getting Iron Man 4 if Stark/Iron Man will show up in other non-Avengers films.

Wonder what character Keaton was supposed to play, so that I can rage over how awesome he would have been

Some people were speculating that Marvel was eyeing Keaton as a replacement until RDJ agreed to return.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU reboot) (7/7/2017 - D: Jon Watts) S: Tom Holland

Potential SPOILERS, depending on your level of spoilage. Proceed at your own risk.

Chances are you’ve seen CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR already and chances are you enjoyed the hell out of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Hopefully you did, as Holland will again reprise the dual role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, the characters first solo venture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is currently set for release on July 7th, 2017.

Now, before I get into the scoop info, let’s recap what we already know about the film. It’s directed by Jon Watts with a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. Watts’ last film, COP CAR, was an indie hit that helped grab the attention of the Marvel brass. Of course, SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING stars Tom Holland as the titular character and is joined so far by Marisa Tomei as Hot Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man/Tony Stark, Tony Revolori as Manuel, and Zendaya as Michelle.

Now that we’re all caught up, let’s get into the scoopage. Of course this info could be considered spoilery, so proceed at your own discretion, although none of it is really plot related, so there’s no story spoilers here.

Spoiler:
Okay, good. So, you’ll recall the rumor that The Vulture would appear in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING and that talks with Michael Keaton to play the character eventually fell through. Well, we can confirm that not only is The Vulture in the film, but he is, in fact, the main villain. But, he’s not the only bad guy in the mix. The Vulture will be aided by none other than The Tinkerer, who will help him build his suit with recovered Chitauri tech from the Battle of New York.

And speaking of suits…Although we’ve already seen Spider-Man’s new duds in CIVIL WAR, there will be some upgrades for HOMECOMING. We already know that Tony Stark will feature in the film and it appears he’ll be in more of a mentor role than anything, while supplying him with modifications to his suit. What kind of modifications? Well, if you stuck it out for the end credits of Civil War you got to see Peter Parker discover Stark’s costume Easter Egg for the web shooters that also featured Spidey’s signature signal light. Well, it looks like we’ll be seeing more old-school signature Spidey features, as Stark will also be supplying the classic Web Wings from the comics that will be able to deploy as needed. So, it appears Spider-Man is going back to his Stan Lee/Steve Ditko roots and that is pretty badass.

Neat?

I dunno. I have nothing to really react from that but Marvel seems to know how to handle Webhead.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU reboot) (7/7/2017 - D: Jon Watts) S: Tom Holland

After momentarily passing on the opportunity to play the next “Spider-Man” villain, Michael Keaton is back in talks to join Sony’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

Variety first reported that Keaton was being eyed to play the villain last month, but talks had barely begun before the actor pulled his name from consideration over money issues. Sources said the dispute occurred after Robert Downey Jr. was added to the cast to reprise his role as Tony Stark. At the time, it appeared as though the studio wouldn’t be able to afford both talents.

With Downey’s deal now closed, insiders say Sony and Marvel have now returned to Keaton and have found a way to make both parties happy.

If a deal closes, Keaton would join Tom Holland, who is set to play the web-slinger in the film, directed by Jon Watts. Marisa Tomei is set to play Aunt May and Zendaya is also on board in a mystery role. Kevin Feige is producing with Amy Pascal.

Plot details are still being heavily guarded.

Keaton has starred in the last two Oscar best picture winners, “Birdman” and “Spotlight,” and also has “The Founder” bowing in August, which is already garnering early award season buzz.

He is repped by ICM Partners.

"Now, it has been announced that the Oscar-nominated actor is in talks again to play the yet-to-be-announced villain role — for real this time. Allegedly."

Who writes this shit?

I'm stoked either way but really hoping Keaton will be back on board.

Yeah. Keaton would be awesome to have in this. Just... to have Keaton alone now is a great elevation.

God. I'm so happy that he's really getting into the work now.

Chris Evans would be interested in doing a cameo in this movie. There is a Youtube video in the link of him talking about it casually.

Obviously that means absolutely nothing when it comes to the writers, Sony and Marvel.

They could possibly squeeze in a Steve Rogers cameo in a post-credits sequence, but don't know if it would make much sense.

I don't know if a post credits appearance would even count as a cameo. Often that footage is from the next movie. I mean I guess you could say he cameoed in Ant-Man, but that footage was from Civil War.

That Ant-Man coda is the only time the footage was from another movie. Evans playing Cap in an end-credits scene is a precise definition of cameo.

The post credits tag on Cap: First Avenger was footage from the Avengers.

The post credits tag on Iron Man 2 was from Thor.

The mid-credits tag on Thor: The Dark World was not footage from Guardians, but was filmed on the set of Guardians by the Guardians crew.

The post credits thing is almost like something else entirely. If Chris Evans said he wanted to do a cameo in this, I would assume he was talking about something like his appearance in Thor: The Dark World.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU reboot) (7/7/2017 - D: Jon Watts) S: Tom Holland

EXCLUSIVE: Donald Glover is joining the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Jon Watts-directed superhero movie that stars Tom Holland for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. The big question that will be asked in the fanboy set is, what role is he playing? The talented young actor was at the center of a lot of social media conjecturing back when the project was solidifying, as many felt he would be an ideal candidate to play the Spidey character in his third major onscreen iteration. Glover, aside from being a writer on 30 Rock handpicked at age 21 by Tina Fey to becoming a castmember on Community and costar of films like The Martian, Magic Mike XXL and The Lazarus Effect, is also a hip hop artist who records under the name Childish Gambino. Waiting for clarity from Sony and Marvel as to what he’s going to do in the film, which will star Michael Keaton as The Vulture, and which has a youthful cast of Peter Parker pals played by Zendaya, Michael Barbieri, Kenneth Choi and Tony Revolori. Robert Downey Jr, who helped introduce Holland’s fresh-faced Spidey character in Captain America: Civil War, has also signed on to wear his Iron Man costume for the film. Marisa Tomei also reprises her role as Aunt May. Glover is repped by WME and MGMT Entertainment.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU reboot) (7/7/2017 - D: Jon Watts) S: Tom Holland

Logan Marshall-Green is in talks to join Michael Keaton in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony’s reboot of its franchise on which it has partnered with Marvel Studios.

Keaton is playing the main bad guy in the movie and Marshall-Green would swing in as an evildoer alongside him.

Homecoming has been on a casting tear as it heads towards a shoot later this month. Donald Glover joined the call sheet earlier this week, boarding a roll call that includes Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as the female lead.

Tom Holland is starring as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in a story that takes the character back to his high-school roots.

Also on board are Tony Revolori, who starred opposite Ralph Fiennes in The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Laura Harrier, who appeared on the soap opera One Life to Live. Robert Downey Jr. will appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Jon Watts is directing.

Marshall-Green is best known for co-starring in Ridley Scott’s Alien-themed Prometheus and most recently starred in Karyn Kusama’s horror thriller, The Invitation. He is also starring in Cinemax’s series Quarry.

Marshall-Green is repped by CAA, 3 Arts Entertainment and Stone Genow.

Logan Marshall-Green looks like a malnourished Tom Hardy.

Tony Revolori, a young latin Dustin Hoffman.

So Keaton is Vulture it sounds like if he's the main bad guy. Kind of figured that but truthfully it'd be kind of cool if he played Norman (if the rumors I heard about him being in the film are true). Although I'm not sure if he fits the part.
