I'm not liking this aspect. Yes, this is an imaginary world of superheroes, but a parachute? Does he have shark repellent too?

It's tracking for a 120-135 million opening...so it will really have to drop not to do well.

Like I said, it's impossible for it to bomb. But I think it won't be your typical $1B Marvel movie.

It'll probably fall in line with most other upper tier standalone Marvel-based movies, around $750 - $775m worldwide.

The Avengers 1, 2 and 2.5 (Civil War) and Iron Man 3 are the only billion dollar club members.

It was the first MCU movie after the Avengers, so it makes more sense.

RDJ/Iron Man is the biggest star of all the MCU. The trailers made it look fantastic. It's really not that hard to believe. It's a little surprising that Civil War didn't outgross it.

I'd say phase 2 was interesting, because each of the first few films felt like a sequel to Avengers for different reasons:

Iron Man 3 followed Avengers' biggest star.
Thor 2 followed what happened to Avengers' villain
Captain America 2 featured several Avengers members and had the biggest impact on the MCU.

I know what you mean. But it makes sense in that Stark is concerned about the boy's welfare and built in a parachute as a fail safe due to Parker's inexperience. You don't want him web swinging around Manhattan skyscrapers and running out of web fluid. Now, if Peter had sewn the suit together in his bed room and it had a parachute...

It did decently in China, but unsurprisingly there were a lot of complaints about how those "China-specific" scenes (in their cut) were obviously added in and pandering to Chinese audiences (apparently they hate it as much as we would). Pulled $120m of its $1.2b from China.

I'm also a little hesitant about the suit being Iron Man-lite. I hope the action doesn't rely too much on the suit gimmickry (it appears the latter parts of the movie will not).

I don't mind the Stark tech in Spidey's suit given that Stark designed it. At least Peter designed the web shooters and goggles. It makes more sense to me that the home made suit by Peter is crappy and that Stark was able to design something nicer.

Re: Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU reboot) (7/7/2017 - D: Jon Watts) S: Tom Holland

I am really in two minds about the look of this movie. Whilst one part of me likes the idea of a suit designed by Stark and adding in a lot of the gadgets which were in the comics, it also feels like its leaning too much on Downey Jnr and the character of Iron Man for support. I think the Vulture looks not bad, but maybe a little too close to the style of the horrible villains from the Amazing Spiderman movies. At least it seems in this movie there is a good reason behind the tech.

I think it would be wise for Sony to get Osborne in these movies as the Thanos/Big Bad of the Spidey Universe. The Green Goblin is like Doctor Doom in movies. Huge potential but they always seem to fuck it up. Just get something akin to the original look and make the character truly menacing and you are half way there. Dafoe played the part well, but the costume let him down.

I honestly wouldn't even bother with the Green Goblin. Let's get Mysterio, Kraven and Scorpion on screen.

First reactions are in. As expected, better than last 2 movies, but not quite up to par with Raimi 1st and 2nd ones: http://www.darkhorizons.com/first-sp...ing-reactions/

^ Spoilery but I dont think it ruins anything about movie, It's just info on what villains are appearing.

Glad I looked but it wasn't anything that hasn't shown up already. There is a cast list popping up that
has more cast than this DH thing.
