Ridley Scott has done a few great movies, a few good movies and a few terrible movies. But even his terrible movies look good and have a couple of decent moments. The top are obviously Blade Runner, Alien and the Martian. Another great movie of his that is often overlooked is Black Rain. I think the Counselor is actually a decent movie, and the DC of Kingdom of Heaven is a solid movie. But then we have Thelma and Louise, Blackhawk Down, and a few crappy collaborations with Rusell Crowe. Gladiator is ok, but pretty over rated.

Isn't Ridley Scott only a credited Producer on this movie?
Wouldn't that make his role in this movie limited. He didn't write it and isn't directing. He may just have popped in on set every other day to see how things were going.
The teaser looked cool, but man October 2017 is still so far away.

As producer Scott could easily have enough power to fuck the movie up. Let's hope he was hands off.

It did suck. But they were so hot.

It's a very bleak and nihilistic noir that IMO works mostly because of the writing.

Not tht I give a shit, but good to know they won't go down this path.

Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve has said that his movie will deliberately not provide an answer to this mystery, which is all I need to hear to feel okay about my excitement for his film. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he revealed that the debate continues to rage on amongst those closest to Blade Runner, describing a dinner where Ford and Scott (who is still on board as a producer) fought over Deckard’s identity:
"It was very funny, I must say, to find myself in the literal crossfire of Harrison and Ridley, arguing as to why Deckard should be a replicant and why he should be human. As a fan, that’s a dinner I will remember for all my life."

Interesting to know that the film won't give a specific answer.
However, to address a pet peeve of mine from this Entertainment Weekly quote:
"It was very funny, I must say, to find myself in the literal crossfire of Harrison and Ridley, arguing as to why Deckard should be a replicant and why he should be human. As a fan, that’s a dinner I will remember for all my life."
This isn't an example of literal crossfire, but rather metaphorical crossfire. Literal crossfire involves bullets.
If he had said that he was literally "stuck in the middle," that would've been accurate, since he was sitting between the two during the argument.

I don't think Denis is a native English speaker - French most likely, so I'll give him a pass on the "literal crossfire" bit.
I also don't need a "specific" answer to whether Deckard is or isn't a replicant. I already know that he is from the plenty of evidence built in the first one.

I think it is more a matter of the commonly overlooked misuse of the word "literally" and the death of proper grammar. However, he is correct on both "literally" and "crossfire".

On a separate note, the fact that the director and the star can still argue over Deckard's humanity thirty years later is a sign that the movie was done right AT THE TIME.
Yes, I suppose that is another "Ridley, just stop talking" jab from me.

When it comes to BLADE RUNNER 2049, the big question is how exactly Harrison Ford has returned as the supposed replicant, Rick Deckard. We'll have to wait until the film is released before we find out that answer, but in the meantime we do have news about another character that is returning from the original film. In a recent interview with The TREND Talk Show, Edward James Olmos finally opened up about BLADE RUNNER 2049 and confirmed that his character from the first film, Gaff, will be making a brief appearance! Check it out!
Edward James Olmos on reprising Gaff in BLADE RUNNER 2049:
I signed a seven page non-disclosure contract. I did, my manager did, my agent did, everybody did. I couldn’t talk about it. I couldn’t talk about it to anybody about it. Guess what? This is the first time that I’m telling the whole world, that yes, I am going to be Gaff in Blade Runner 2049.
Regarding his scene:
Well, it’s not about Gaff, but it’s about someone who is going to try to find out certain things about us back then. My role is like it was in the original – that time I only had four scenes, in this I only have one. But again, it’s a poignant little scene.

Very nice. Maybe we're going to get something that, even if not as great as the original, will still be an enjoyable addition to the original story.
