I had low expectations regarding this film (and Paris Hilton only lowered them more because I thought she was to be the star) but, based on this review, I may have to go see it.

A pole through the head. She falls dead foward too, and slides down it.

I've been anxious to see this and unnaturally optomistic about it. I've made it a point to go see films from this production house.

They should post that tagline on ALL of the posters. It would work, I guarantee it!

Since I recently saw and absolutely loved Girl Next Door, I'll be checking this out. Plus, it's a Dark Castle. I haven't been too disappointed with most of those films.

I loved House On Haunted Hill & Gothika. Ghost Ship was very entertaining. The only one to somewhat dissappoint me was 13 Ghosts. That was kinda crappy. But then I don't really like Mathew Lilaird at all and Shannon Elizabeth bores me.

I have'nt liked a single Dark Castle film. I tried and kept giving them another chance with constant disappointment.

So is their a chance I may like this film? I am a big slasher fan of the old school(the real deal in other words). Will this satisfy myself even somewhat,or be a standard play it safe studio horror film?

It's really not a secret that Paris dies in the movie. If you watch Movie Life: House of Wax on MTV, she tells everyone that she dies. Even when she is promoting the movie.

Yeah, and Cuthbert just spoiled "how" she dies on Conan.

I have no interest in seeing this. Paris is in it. It's a remake. Don't care for Kim either.

However, I DO give it props for being "violent" as Seantn stated [hope our ideas of "violent" are somewhere near the same] and for being rated R. Just knowing a horror movie is rated PG-13 in an effort to appeal to the MTV kiddies, is sickening.

Then again, this film does star Hilton, Cuthbert and Murray...

Ugh, I thought the movie was terrible and yet, of course, it ends with a segue to a potential sequel. As a previous poster said, it does start really slow and builds until it's run almost two hours -- but I'd say it's the movie's biggest problem. Had they shaved the first hour down to 30 minutes or so it might've been better. Can't say I cared for any of the characters and it was painfully obvious who would die and who would survive.

I'm glad it was a free preview screening...

I liked it. Thought it was the best so far from the Dark Castle group. Not scary, but I thought the whole premise in the movie was very twisted. Plenty of gore, which reminded me of parts in "Cabin Fever". I'm sure the budget is around $40 million, which seems to be what the others from Dark Castle were. I hope it does well.

Mr. Cinema is correct, twisted is a better description for this movie than scary/horror. When Cuthbert
Spoiler:
has her finger chopped
I was like, what the hell, that's not supposed to happen to the hero. It was a decent Saturday afternoon matinee, probably would have enjoyed it more in the Halloween season though.

For the record, I enjoy the Dark Castle pics (except Gothika)...they're the perfect kind of flick to watch in late October when its getting chilly and the days have grown short.

I thought it was a fun slasher pic. Great set design, and some genuinely creepy moments.

Cuthbert did break one of the "rules" though.
Spoiler:
When you have the killer down, you're supposed to leave him there and turn your back, to give him the chance to jump up. When she knocked a killer down with a baseball bat, she kept right on swinging until his head was mush. Shown in nice detail, too.

Yeah, that was great. When I saw that, I instantly thought of Irreversible.

I would give the overall film a "C+". The cheesy metal music got on my nerves. The film would have been scarier if the studio had the balls to kill off all of the characters as I found none of them to be sympathetic or really likable.

I haven't been nervous or scared in a horror movie in a long long time...but for some reason, I was on the edge of my seat, biting my nails etc. for almost the entire running time on this one. I had a great time with it and thought it was a cut above most recent horror flicks and certainly the best one Dark Castle has produced yet. The finale was really cool and the cast was entirely likeable and although nobodies gonna win any awards for this one, I had an enjoyable time and would easily recommend it to others.

I agree with your comment about the cheesy metal music, I would have rated it higher if it hadn't been for that inclusion, the ending was also an eyeroller. But all in all, I was very very surprised with this film. The gore was a blast - way to go KNB.

I'd give a letter grade of B+

oh... question, how did Vincent know where to find the two in the tent?
