I don't know, she seems as ever prevalent in the tabloids and commercials and magazines as she was a year ago. Granted, I don't think people actually like her, but people still seem to be interested in her. It looks like a crappy horror movie...for everyone that won't see it because of her, I think many will go see it just to see it because of her.

No doubt it's stunt casting, but it might pay off. This is a fairly small budgeted horror movie. I can't imagine her presence will hurt the movie at all. I think it very well might help given her small supporting role. That and, many people might be inclined to watch it just to see her get killed.

When I tell people about the movie and her involvement, they all groan. Seems like she's a deal breaker more than anything else.
She's probably only in the movie for about ten minutes total, but I have the feeling that every review will either bash the movie for her acting or for the previews advertising her so prominently.

I watched the trailer, and my thoughts were echoing yours... "they turned it into a slasher flick?"

All the same, that pretty much means I know just what to expect, so the "wax" angle is a nice bonus. But why give that secret away in the trailer? If there's any genre that depends on surprise in the movie...

This looks like garbage. A classic suspense flick remade into a stalk-n-slash. Bah.

I'm fairly certain this movie would not rock my motha.

My thoughts excatly. I just wish her 15 minutes would end but unfortunately I don't think it will.

With that said, the trailer did grab my attention and looks pretty creepy but I'm still expecting a shitfest.

House of Wax poster

Does anyone else think that this poster is a little ironic? That is Paris Hilton right? I did a search, so sorry if this has been discussed.

gross...but funny!

Nice to know she bites it and gets dipped, though I don't know if that is enough to make me buy a ticket.

I like how you can go the adult angle or the she's-already-made-of-wax angle.

Ewww!

The movie still looks like a stalk-n-slash to me. Having Paris Hilton in it is enough to keep me away.

I think promoting it with her does just as much harm as it does good.

Just saw "House of Wax" (minor spoilers)

Wow...I freakin' loved the movie. I was surprised how entertaining it was. And as for violence...well, if you like your horror films violent, then this movie is for you. Even the main characters get appendages cut off!

The movie isn't just your run of the mill, 80 minute horror movie. It's about 2 hours long and I actually felt sympathy for some of these characters as they were being prepped for their torture/killing.

This movie must have had quite a large budget, considering that at it's core it's a stalk & slash film. The last 20 minutes feature some huge special effects that looked quite costly. I enjoyed the movie a lot, as did the audience I saw it with.

As far as Paris Hilton goes, she has a very small part, so she can't really ruin the film. She acts as she does in real life...She seems like she's only partially there, sorta like she's drowsy from medicine. Her death scene is really great. In fact, all the death scenes are great.

Anyone else see it?

I know tons of people will pre-judge it (I did before I had seen it) and will say that it's crap...well, that's your loss. Will everyone love it? No, of course not. Some will hate it. I, however, loved it.

Aw, you should've just made this a review thread...

Anyhoo, I'm in full agreement, and I have no tolerance for horror films since SCREAM ruined everything nearly 10 years ago.

WAX is unusually slow paced, which is fantastic. I thought Cuthbert and Murray did great jobs too. The climax gets way out of hand, but that's to be expected these days. The film really enjoys its R-rating, and that's reason enough to go see it.

This is the first good film to come out of Dark Castle!
