It is still playing in theaters in Korea so I doubt you'll see a DVD release for a few months at least.

The only news I've heard is that it has been slated to hit DVD sometime in March of 2004, but no specific day was mentioned. Korean DVDs are notorious for being delayed however, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

Being delayed? You're not kidding. I've been waiting for the Bruce Lee box set since SEPTEMBER!!! Right now, it's supposed to be February 18th, but I don't know anymore.

As for Old Boy, I'm guessing March or April. That's sounds about right.

Here's a good place to look for info on Korean DVD's:

http://www.koreanfilm.org/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi

Quote:
Oldboy will be released in April.. and again in fall as an Ultimate Edition. April release will include some basic supplements.. and UE will include much more supplements with a possiblity of being.. maybe a 3 disk set..which is not certain.
As for the director's commentary, Park Chanwook said that he wouldn't do the commentary again while he was doing the commentary for If I Were You. (from DVD2.0)

According to a Korean site, here are the extras. I have no idea what most of them mean, though, so asking me would be kind of useless.

2)Jailhouse Rock
3)The Old Boy

2.Evergreen

1)Out of the Past
2)Room at the Top
3)Cries and Whispers
4)Dressed To Kill

3.Lover

1)The Searchers
2)The Last Waltz
3)For Whom the Bell Tolls

4.Get Together

1)Audition
2)Characterizing
3)Hunting
4)Reading
5)Crank in

5.Trailer
6.Teaser Trailer
7.TV Spot

Where is the dancing banana when you need him? Oh, and does any reputable site have this up to order yet?

Are the short features subtitled as well? And I'd like to see a pic of it. Where can one preorder if one was so inclined?

October 11th is the expected release date
(also, the DTS track is going to be on the UE it seems)

The Korean retail price is 99,000 Won which equals
$85.75 US

I seriously doubt English subtitles on the extras as usual,
this is a great double dipper for Korean speakers,
but not much for the foreigners

I'm seriously considering this. I abosolutely loved the soundtrack, and I haven no doubt that it will not only be rare, but also look amazing.

A hand-made copper case? This could easily be a $100 item.

I probably can't justify a double-dip, but I'm anxious to at least see some pics of the case.

85 bucks is too steep for me, but I'd still like to see it. Maybe if one of you orders it, you can have me over so I can touch it and get my picture taken with it.

What's the point of all this when there are no English subs on any of the extras?

You don't have to understand korean to appreciate the OST, book, music video or packaging.
