Geezus. A steelbook too. I dunno what to do with this one. It is one of my top 5-10 movies ever. I currently own the pop-art steelbook w/ 4k remastered Blu-ray disc (swapped it out). And I really like the design too.

I guess I'll wait to see the design of this steelbook. If its better, then grab it and sell my current version (I'm sure somebody will like the combination I've put together). If not, I'll wait for a 4k disc dangling by itself on Ebay and then use a sticky hub inside the steelbook. The latter is sounding like a better option and it's not like the 4k remaster Blu-ray is horrible, it's actually awesome in-fact.

For freaking Houston of all places (which is usually no issue), right now I would have to go to Sharpstown which is on the other side of Houston from where I am (Katy/West-side). I hope it changes come tomorrow but I might have to go to foreign options or something else.

If it's like any of the other new releases each week, a bunch of stores should have it available for store pick up tomorrow morning.

I'm still undecided. I have every other Resident Evil steelbooks since Wal Mart originally started doing them, so I don't really want to skip now (especially since this is supposed to be the final movie), but I don't know how I feel about spending $28 on it either.

Wait until around midnight ET, they unlock the pre-orders then. I bet it will be no problem to order a copy for in-store pick-up if you stay up tonight.

Yep, you were right...a lot more places opened up this morning. Have RE:FC reserved at the Best Buy near my work. However, the one near my house is still not showing any...but it's all good.

Also, that Resident Evil Final Chapter steelbook must be pretty damn limited. It was showing available for pickup and shipping earlier for me, but now it's sold out. I got to the store 15 mins after they opened and there was only one left, so I ended up grabbing it.

I hear that the Resident Evil SteelBook is actually a pop art design, not the poster art currently shown on the Best Buy web site. Does anyone have a photo?

Yes, but that's a re-issue, released at the time of F&F 7. The original Blu Ray release was the one I put above. I still have mine, shrink-wrapped with a Best Buy price tag on it because I never got around to opening it.

Edit : Actually I'm wrong : Best Buy had both Steelbook covers come out at launch. I went with the multi-store release rather than the Best Buy Exclusive cover. I must have liked that cover more.

That said, it should be noted that Best Buy did have an exclusive non-matching Steelbook for Fast Five -- as you yourself noted :

That's one thing I hate about Best Buy. They go back and reissue steelbooks from movie franchises that either have already been released or make completely new steelbooks when there are already steelbooks floating around.

So their F&F line looks like this:



and they did the same thing for Resident Evil



So now my RE collection looks like dumb, because I have the five Walmart steelbooks and the two Best Buy steelbooks.

Man, when I picked up that gorgeous "Mummy Collection" steelbook, I spotted the "XXX" steelbook and it was awful. I don't know who supervised that cover art but whoever is on the cover doen't look anything like Vin Diesel ...well, he's bald anyway. Awful.

Regarding "The Mummy Ultimate Collection," I believe the movie discs are identical as to content from the previous discs, so I switched out the discs that lacked cover art with my previous "Mummy Trilogy." Now all the discs in the steelie have disc art except the new bonus content DVD. Looks quite nice:

I picked up that Mummy set as well. The movies are all awful, but the Steelbook is nice.
Extra bonus : I received an email with a code for $8 to see The Mummy as well as the $8 code on the Steelbook. So $20 got me 4 Blu Ray movies, 1 bonus DVD, a nice Steelbook, four HD copies and $16 in Movie Money. Not bad!

And I agree about the xXx Steelbook. I saw it in-store. It's hideous.

Just a heads up to those who were unable to get RE:The Final Chapter. They were put on the shelf late in a lot of stores in the NE. My store put them out today.
