I can just imagine the design sesson where leaving out resume was decided:
Engineer-Hey if we do it this way, the discs won't resume. We'll be taking away a basic capability of the previous technology.
Senior Vice President 1-Yeah, but you say that if we require BluRay to resume, it'll take us another week of design and add ten cents to the cost of the players.
