Hope you get to feeling better, shadokitty. I think this East Coast weather has been screwin' with my sinuses, which is just what I need on top of everything else...

My fav would be Creature From the Black Lagoon. Although when my wife and I first started dating, we watched the original Dracula all the time. Once a week at least. Plus Jaws.

I'm at 15, so not too bad a pace. And I have to ask, what do you mean by "charity bosses"? Is it just like what you say, bosses of a charity?

And my goodness, Addison Timlin is HOT. Thought I've seen her before, but I haven't. No idea how she is so big (maybe because she is friends with Taylor Swift) but hope to see more of her.
This doesn't have the same attraction as if you were to not wish it upon your worst enemy, but with this recommendation I think I'll give it a go.

Rules question: I plan on watching Never Sleep Again soon for the documentary checklist item. It's 4 hours. Counts as 1 or 2?

I'm the opposite, originally I ignored theme nights but lately I've been basing much of my watching around theme nights. So far I'm on my 5th Christopher Lee movie (which is Howling II, yuck); it's fun to marathon related movies especially for some of the better themes. For example, it's interesting to see Lee give a smart performance in Wicker Man then sort of phone it in for Horror Express.

People have counted Never Sleep Again as multiple entries.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I caught Hotel Transylvania 2 today and enjoyed it more than the first - one of the themes is how horribly traditional horror tropes work in a modern world and the Hotel Transylvania films are kind of fun. They don't quite stack up to stuff like Mad Monster Party but it's nice to see light hearted accessible horror staples in play.

Horror Express (cool cheesy monster) and Dr Terror's House of Horrors (were better than I expected. Howling II is worthy of it's clunker reputation (where they even trying?) and the Dark Shadows movie could have been better but was enjoyable despite plot holes.

Thanks for the updates. I'll be working on the new list, which will take me a long way towards 100 this year. I do appreciate the care you've taken with providing the releases and sources.

Couldn't say that about Frankenstein.
I love them; it's just I've seen them umpteen times, and plan on sticking primarily with first time views. Luckily for me it looks like there's still a few lesser known ones left on Bob's list.

As for favorites, The Invisible Man and Frankenstein are up there, but Spanish Dracula is where it's at.

My list is a little behind (as usual), but about to start #15 with She Killed in Ecstasy. That's around my usual pace.

Spoiler:

These are in theatrical release order with parenthetical information about DVD releases. The release information is generally what I've purchased and simply serves as a jumping off point if you're looking to pick up any of these. Some I purchased in collections are also available as single titles. Several are now OOP and hard to find.

The Abbott & Costello films are now included in the new Universal Monsters Legacy Collection releases as well as a stand-alone release with *just* those films.

The *new* Universal Monsters Legacy Collection releases are preferred over the original releases as the main feature in each is from the master created for the BR releases of those films.

The Kino American Silent Horror Collection is currently (10/1/15) available at Amazon from MP vendor Film Maker Direct for $19.99 + shipping/tax. I took a chance and ordered a copy. Film Maker Direct apparently *is* Kino! Possibly a close-out division. The shipping address matches Kino and it included a catalog of current releases. If you're interested in these get it now before they run out and that ~$80+ price for used copies becomes the norm.

$3.94 is tempting...

edit: Ugh. I didn't think it was that good but it was cheap enough to trick me into it again.

I finally got in my first viewing of the challenge.

I watched the original Friday the 13th. It's a classic with great atmosphere, nice simple plot, and delivers what it sets out to do. I miss this old school style. So it's nice to revisit once in awhile.

Any reason for always watching Dracula? And yeah, bosses of a charity I help/work for. I work different jobs (not like anyone cares lol) so that's how I separate everything. And wish upon thee worst enemy, I dunno, if you don't wish something upon them, then it really isn't THAT bad, is it? The worst enemy, you want them to feel the worst type of pain ever.

Agreed, not the best, but at that price, f it. I don't even know if I have bought it before, but if so, would make a gift for my mom.

Watched Creep. It was interesting. I actually believed Mark even though I still see him as Pete because Pete is a creepy guy. The guy filming him, though, one of the worst actors ever. Not believable and I think I could have done a better job. That or the script he was going off of to tell him what to do sucked.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 11th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Ended my saturday night with a re-watching of Demon Hunter for the Billy Drago check. Such a guilty pleasure. If you own the Masters of Horror DVDs (First season) then I'm sure you saw the trailer for this. It's a cheap Constantine/Blade knockoff, but what trashy fun it is. And why oh why wasn't Colleen Porch able to become a bigger star?
Spoiler:

Or at least be the Angelina Jolie of B-flicks? Such a bummer.

I like the build up of what could happen. Plus Ancient Egypt is one of my favorite historical periods.

I counted it as two last year.

Just finished another episode of 100 Years of Horror about zombies. See my quote above about the mummy, regarding what are my favorite zombies.

I've been going through it to try to watch the ones I haven't seen, or at least I haven't watched during a previous OHMC. It's nice to finally have a reason to watch those Inner Sanctum Mysteries (luckily IMDb lists them as Horror).
Sorry about that! I copied the additions/changes to separate sections to make it easier to update a local copy. When I made the original list I somehow totally missed A&C Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff *after* checking all their films!?!? When making that first list I was surprised those Inner Sanctum Mysteries had horror tags at IMDB. I'd likely have not included them otherwise. There *are* a few films on the list which do *not* have horror tags at IMDB or AllMovie. They are included either by being part of a "Franchise" or having a long tradition of being considered a horror film. They have indications at the end of their particular listing.

I'll second this recommendation. It was a really good movie. I watched Burying the Ex (2014) (also with Anton Yelchin) earlier, and it was pretty good too. It's easily the best thing I've seen from Joe Dante in a decade or so.

I haven't seen her in anything before either, but I see she's in the remake of The Town That Dreaded Sundown so I'll probably check it out later today.

Thanks. I saw that you noted the exceptions that aren't listed as horror on IMDb. I either deleted those or made notes, I don't recall which.

It's definitely a stretch to call the Inner Sanctum Mysteries I've watched so far "horror" (although one of them had all the trappings of a haunted house movie - secret passages, seances, alleged ghosts), but Googling the titles, I saw that Universal has released them as "Horror Classics" at least once in the past.

Thanks for that. Now the trick will be to NOT look at other movies to make the shipping seem more worth it.

Rather than take a chance on a TV movie I didn't know how was, I went with a known enjoyable movie from my collection today, Moon of the Wolf. While it's no Salem's Lot, being just an average Sunday Night Movie from the 70s, I find it enjoyable, for two reasons. One, I like David Janssen, and two, Werewolves, are one of my favorite monsters.

I found I had misplaced my copy of Alien and Alien: Resurrection, so just bought the last Alien on Amazon Instant Video in preparation for my watching my Alien/Predator Collection some time this month. I had already purchased the first Alien when I thought Alien was missing before.

Is it just me, or even though commentaries count, does it make a Challenge more fulfilling to move on to something else after watching a movie, then to watch the same movie over again with audio commentary?

That's what I planned to do again this year, but I'm feeling pretty chummy with you all this week so I'm sticking to the themes a lot more than I planned. I just wish there were 72 hours in everyday so that I can watch more of what you all are talking about.

I'll have to check and see if I've ever watched any of his films, but they can't be worse than the crap from Chris Seaver. I love this one review; "there are terrible movies, there are unwatchable movies, and then there is the work of Chris Seaver."

Couldn't say that about Frankenstein.

And how is everyone doing on making it to 100? #13 right now. Had a really good first day thanks to starting early and Friday wasn't bad even with meeting up with my charity bosses and being out most of the day.
I love all the Universal films, but that's maybe partly because I grew up on and became a horror fan partly because of them running on local stations a lot.

Doing way too well on getting to 100, as I've done nothing but watch horror since dusk on the 30th. But I'm hoping I'll stop this nonsense and start reading horror instead.

I've got a few more for you... HorrorHound's mini feature on the Monster VHS also included:

Island of Lost Souls (1932) [Criterion]
The Monster & the Girl

I've also included in my sub-list as possibilities-worthy-of-consideration/investigation:

House of Fear
The Cat & the Canary (1939) with Bob Hope
The Uninvited (Criterion) (the same list said "The Unseen" is a followup)
The Cat Creeps
Murder in the Blue Room
Secret Beyond the Door
Curucu, Beast of the Amazon

I seem to remember debate over whether (m)any of the Rathbone Sherlock Holmes' should be on the list as as-"horror"-as-some - and that may be more valid now that Spider-Woman is striking back....
