Well my wife just totaled my car so unless I get really proactive that is two hours a day less I will have for the challenge (walking back and forth to work).

I found out yesterday my dad has stage 4 cancer, so I'll need something to keep my mind off things, looking forward to this challenge as a distraction.

^^ Condolences, shado.
God, I hope she's all right. I'm guessing you guys aren't going to be in the mood to watch any car crash films this year.

Is it too late to get Scott Adkins added to the safe list? Anyway, I'll try to make the recommend for next year, if it is. Sorry I'm so late to the planning thread this year.

After looking a little closer, does he have enough of a real career in these types of movies? The safe lists are more for career b-movie actors.

His mainstream work is mostly as a double or supporting roles. Probably don't need to include him just yet but he is probably the closest thing right now to the kind of B action star we'd get in the DTV era. Maybe for consideration down the road. I usually put together a few names for this time of year, but I haven't sat down to review anything. Just gathering momentum for the challenge.

While looking at Netflix for Predator, as I didn't feel like getting up to get out my DVD, I came across a good looking eligible movie for this challenge that I plan to watch next month if it is still on there, Creature.

Scott Adkins is an interesting case in that he's constantly mentioned as being on the cusp whenever there's a discussion of finding the next big action film star, but he still hasn't found that breakout project. It partly has to do with most of his films being R-rated actioners, which have fallen out of favor in recent years for necessarily excluding that lucrative teen movie-going audience. More importantly, he hasn't yet demonstrated that he's capable of expressing some sort of dynamic emotional range. He has the martial arts skills, but it's a little telling that all of today's highest-earning action stars are actors first, then superheroes.
I've got a few Scott Adkins movies in my viewing stack, but I personally hope Scott Adkins never appears on a safe list. Maybe he's comfortable with where he is and doesn't aspire for anything more, but I would like to see him seriously attempt to make the crossover to the mainstream. We need a successor to Schwarzenegger, not to Dudikoff.

And Ash, it's always a good thing to discover a 42nd Street pic that I've never seen before
Is that the one with the Kinski cameo? if so, this film also contains one of the best head-explosions of the 80's!

I'll go ahead and "recommend" two flicks on Netflix instant: Linda and Abilene(1969) and The Ecstasies of Women(1969). I watched both of them in the last week. Neither one is any good, but they're both films Herschell Gordon Lewis worked on (as Lewis H. Gordon), so they're worth a look if you're a HGL fan.
