Re: Hamilton Books

I will put another note up for them tao! It takes a while much of the time (it is always harder than it seems to do anything on a website I guess) but we usually get them done.

Happy holidays to everyone at DVDTalk btw!

Re: Hamilton Books

I placed a big order about 10 days ago (17 dvds/blus) and they arrived yesterday (Sunday!) perfectly packed and in perfect condition, as always. I love HB so much and thanks to GW for all the good you do around these parts!

Some great deals on Mya DVDs. I don't think I've seen anything released by Mya or One 7. Any recommendations or hidden gems?

Until Death and Graveyard Disturbance are decently entertaining Italian horror films (not overly graphic because they were made for tv) from Lamberto Bava who directed the first 2 Demons films. The Fishmen and Their Queen is ridiculously cheesy Italian horror (again made for TV) and is the sequel to Island of the Fishmen (aka Screamers which has a Blu-ray). And Arizona Colt Returns is a decent spaghetti western if you're looking for something along those lines (though I'd suggest just skipping this release and getting the Arizona Colt double feature from Wild East if you're going to do that.)

As for One-7 releases, The Sack of Rome is worth a viewing if only to see Franco Nero and a trashy movie. If you're at all into sex comedies you can do worse than The Real Decameron.

Re: Hamilton Books

I made 3 orders with Hamilton Books in ~2 months, so am apparently jumping on the bandwagon. My last order had my first book purchase (blush), a hardback collection of the first year and a half of Dick Tracy strips from the early 1930's. Totally pristine. I was curious how they'd ship everything, since the book could potentially crush the DVD's. No worries, though. The order shipped in two separate boxes.

The DVD's included Sony's Stanley Kramer Collection, and I have a small word of warning. If you happened to buy this set but haven't scrutinized it yet, I received two copies of the "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" bonus disk, but no copy of the film itself. There are a few similar comments in the reviews at Amazon. I contacted Sony at [email protected] , as it was their mistake, and they are paying for return of one of the bonus disks and sending me a proper copy of the film. FYI, in case it happens to you.

Re: Hamilton Books

Probably the BEST deal on this monster set (Fox Connect has had this before at this price) - get it before they are all gone. Believe me when I say this set is HEAVY - no idea how they can ship it for $3.90 :-)

Re: Hamilton Books

Arrggghhhh!!! I *just* placed a order a few days ago trying to get in on a Bing Crosby set you had (It went OOS before my order was filled - bummer). I "need" Curse of the Crying Woman, Monster, and possibly those 2 oaters...

One of the titles I ordered is on back order and will be shipped when stock arrives... is there a way to add titles to that? If so, I might give that some consideration.

Re: Hamilton Books

Bob it may fly but I have 800+ of Curse. You're good if you wait I think. Similar situation with the Westerns.

No way to add to an existing back order, sorry.

No problem and thanks! I didn't figure it would be possible but it never hurts to ask.

I'll just place another order, hopefully this month as that unavailable Crosby title put ~$10 back into my pocket. I can *always* find enough to justify a order and usually struggle with what to leave off!

Oooo... I see the versions of The Virginian and Wagon Train you have are the ones in the embossed tin box.

**EDIT**
I couldn't stand waiting so I placed a small order to get copies of Curse of the Crying Woman (did you look at Amazon prices on this one?!?) and Monster, throwing in a copy of The Doris Day Show S4 to help offset shipping costs. I figured that might be in short supply since you've had them quite a while. Even with fewer titles to spread shipping across it was still a very good deal and helps the "pain" of missing out on the Bing Crosby set. I can wait on the oaters as I only have 1 season of The Virginian and don't really know if I want/need more Wagon Train since it's been a couple of years and I'm still only half way through viewing the one season of that one I already own.

I didn't but OMG Bob they are absolutely ridiculous! If we can sell it for $3.95, imagine what we paid for it!

OOP means bupkiss to me! I want good movies at good prices.

Re: Hamilton Books

Many thanks to GW for the update, especially for CURSE OF THE CRYING WOMAN, which I've been waiting for! I'm surprised it took so long to come in after the other CasaNegra titles from awhile back. ???

I also went for THE VIRGINIAN even though I only have the first two seasons thus far. I passed on WAGON TRAIN because I've only sampled a few episodes of it and don't think it's a good fit for me. I love vintage western series and have just about every one that Timeless released, but this one has never connected with me, for whatever reason.

Keep the updates coming!

After the great response to the Casa Negra stuff here (thank you guys feedback on stuff like this is SUPER valuable!!) I had to ask for the list again, place the order, they had to pick it (it was big), shipped it almost literally as far as possible inside the continental US (California to CT), and then it gets held up in my system while we photo it, write copy, etc.

I intend to ask again for the list in a month....lists change and sometimes you just need to ask to see it. Who knows what will be on it then.

Will do on the updates! There's big lead times (and sometimes bad fill) on these orders that means I never want to mention anything until it is on our shelves. We're back on a "new batch of titles every 4 weeks" schedule for 2015 so when I create the New Arrivals catalog every four weeks, I am going to review the DVDs and suggest anything I think is good. I have thick skin, if you think the prices or titles stink, tell me. If I skip a batch....I either forgot or I literally thought nothing there was worth your time!!!

(we sell lots of classic Hollywood box sets, nature DVDs, etc to my mail order customers--for the online saavy types, they are simply normal or just below normal pricing. Where I can really make out for you guys is the cult/horror/trash/exploitation/westerns type labels. That's where me loving bad/B movies gives me an advantage over the other guys who see these lists)

Re: Hamilton Books

We all appreciate the heads up. I am especially interested in the genres you mentioned, so any news of forthcoming titles will certainly be welcome. It's getting to the point now with physical media that you have to catch this stuff when you can and a head start for a deal is invaluable.

Re: Hamilton Books

Currently very good deals on three seasons of THE DORIS DAY SHOW, 2 of them @$7.95 and 1 @$9.95.

Also excellent deals on a few old Warner Brothers classics for those that didn't get the gangster box sets, including SAN QUENTIN and EACH DAWN I DIE @$3.95. Pretty sure I saw other WB releases at bargain prices.

DEADPAN, what are some of the DARK SKY and MPI titles you spotted? Maybe GoldenWheels can post a list?

Aside from Starry Eyes I don't really remember. Always helpful to consult HB's Power Search via Publisher.

Results for: IFC / MPI / Dark Sky

While we're at it, here's some others with a decent number of $3.95 or less DVDs:
Synapse / Panik House
A few from Severin Films

Re: Hamilton Books

We should have a big batch of titles going in next week. Once they are live I'll try to cherry pick some of the best for you guys to check out. I do not believe there is a ton of cult-y stuff in there but we'll see.

Re: Hamilton Books

Well we finally added a new batch in:

2708779 Jack the Ripper (new version of the Franco/Kinski flick) $9.95
(and I should have the entire line as it is released at $9.95, Barbed Wire Dolls is next.)

Some Mill Creek:

2686082 Lincoln Chronicles $7.95
2686112 Native America: Tales of a Proud People $7.95
2686201 War Between the States $7.95
2686473 America's War: A 93 Part Documentary $9.95
2686481 Classic Musicals $9.95
2686538 Spaghetti Westerns: 44 Movie Collection $9.95

2712776 Amazing Spider-Man (new one) $5.95

2687534 Haunted Anthology (Insidious/Blair Witch/Others/Last Exorcism/1408, and keep in mind this is Canadian) $6.95

2687666 Jagged Edge/Scenes of the Crime/Starman (Jeff Bridges) $5.95

2687690 Pebbles & Bamm Bamm Complete Series $5.95
2687704 Saturday Morning Cartoons, Vol. 1 $5.95

269395X People Who Own the Dark $12.95 (hardly a bargain but I point it out because it's a Paul Naschy flick)
2693860 Castle of the Walking Dead $12.95 (also not necessarily a bargain but a favorite of mine. Lex Barker, Karin Dor, Christopher Lee, lots of foggy tombs and booby traps! Not gory or really scary at all but I love it.)

2708833 La Chevre $7.95
270885X Les Comperes $7.95
2708876 White Hell of Pitz Palau $9.95

2695863 Parkland $3.95
2712733 Hangman's Knot $3.95

2696622 Fireball XL-5 $19.95
2696630 Joe 90 $19.95
2696649 Supercar: Complete Series $23.95

2702991 Alien Nation Complete Series $14.95

Some Blus, which won't blow anyone away but are a big deal for me!
2695812 Master and Commander $3.95
2695855 War Hero Collection (Patton/Behind Enemy Lines/Rescue Dawn) $7.95
There's more but I am stuck between a rock and a hard place...I am afraid to mention most in case they get listed elsewhere (which I don't mind at all obviously but I am trying to balance the internet sales vs my catalog sales)

There's also batches of Acorn and Questar if that's your thing.

You can view this entire new batch by using the power search on our site and entering the "added since" date as 5/4/2015.

I am hoping to have some nice, recent releases and bunch of British stuff next go round.

Re: Hamilton Books

Thanks for the update, GW.

I can personally vouch for that Mill Creek Spaghetti Westerns set. Most, but not all, of the movies are anamorphic widescreen and probably the only way you will be able to see them, even with all the spaghetti Blus coming out overseas. It's a tremendous bargain.

I'd like to ask you what the stock is like on the Kino silent movies and whether you will be getting anymore in? Would love to consolidate my order to save on shipping, but not if the quantities are limited. Thanks.

Yes, thanks! However I couldn't wait and found these a week or two(?) back using the power search function. I have a shopping cart full of stuff - not to figure out just what I can afford as I have a rather expensive pre-order in May (The Saint full series - one I missed the first time it was released and won't make the same mistake this time)...

Prof, if it's a $9.95er from this new batch (with one exception), I can get more and you should be well safe. (BTW these are the same titles Kino is/was clearing out on their site at the same price, they are great folks so if you could get better shipping there my feelings are not hurt! )

Along those lines, the stuff they have on their home page now as their 40% off sale, I will have in the next batch hopefully. Same prices. Separate from that, Kino is super great about selling me their OS and I usually try to grab anything and everything if I can, but I never know when I will see it.

Now, two exceptions in THIS batch are 1: White Hell of Pitz Palau @ $9.95. I have quite a bit, BUT I can't get more, and if anyone checks Amazon there might be a re-seller run on it. That is always hard for me to predict--plus being Riefenstahl, it appeals to my normal customer too. And 2: Faust at $7.95, that's a limited quantity title where I can't get more, though I do expect it is safe for week or two, I've got a couple hundred. I am happy to check some specific titles for you if you want.

GW, thank you so much for your comprehensive and very informative response. I sent you a PM with more information so as to not to derail the thread too much. But know that we all appreciate your input here, not only for all the updates, but for helping us save time and money.
