Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

There seem to be different $2.99 titles on Amazon now, I noticed Infinity War, Planet Hulk, Old Man Logan, Warlock Complete Collection, Civil War on there.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

A day after the Image coupon expired, they launch a new 65% off sale.

Code: IMAGE65
Expires: 5/29

https://www.comixology.com/Image-Cen...mdlQ2Fyb3VzZWw

I admit I'm having a little bit of buyer's remorse for getting the supercheap TWD compendiums instead of the volumes that match my TPB purchases, but those were twice the price, and it's not like I reread them all that often. I usually just read the previous one as a refresher when a new volume comes out. And if I do decide to do a massive reread, I'd probably be going through big chunks anyway.

Not sure why Image is running the sale. It covers exactly the same stuff as the 70% off sale. The only thing it did was make me look through 110 pages of stuff. On the plus side I did find 2 things I overlooked.

Not everyone got the 70% off coupon, though.

What the F is wrong with Amazon? They have tons of Epics and Masterworks for $3.40-$6, including stuff I bought on "sale" last week for $9.99, Miller Daredevil for $4-5, etc.

Thanks for your sacrifice?

EDIT: Actually shit, there's stuff like Infinity Gauntlet that's only $2.20. World War Hulk is only $1.80. Civil War is $2.60.

I'm going to grab the X-Men and X-Factor Epic Collections. Fuck it, getting New Mutants too. For $3.40, why the hell not.

I'm clicking the buy it now button like a maniac as if these are all going to revert back to normal pricing any minute now. Literally everything is priced between 3 and 6 dollars.

Yeah, I'd be pissed if I was a monthly digital buyer. Glad I'm patient, but probably don't need to be buying almost everything like I've been doing the past hour.....

God Loves, Man Kills for .80? Sure.

Also Alpha Flight Classics, Infinity Gauntlet/War (on the verge of picking up Crusade), David and Keown Hulk, Excalibur, New Mutants, Surfer, Starlin Captain Marvel, argh make me stop!

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

So far I've grabbed Thor Epic Collection v.1 & 2, Captain America Masterworks v.1-5, 8, 9, Complete Starlin Captain Marvel, Complete Machine Man, Complete Howard the Duck v.1, Avengers Under Siege Epic, Silver Surfer Freedom Epic, Complete Lee & Kirby SHIELD, Annihilation Book 3, and X-Men Second Genesis Epic.

I'm debating whether or not I want to jump into FF Masterworks, but if I buy one, I'd probably buy them all.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Somebody make it stop. I've completed many Silver and Bronze Age runs for FF, Avengers, Thor, Captain America, and X-Men as well as some random stuff like What If?, Alpha Flight, and the Invaders and blind-buys of Avengers Under Siege Epic and Silver Surfer Infinity Gauntlet Epic.

I've been mixing some Epics and Masterworks, which is annoying, but some of the issues I want aren't yet in Epic, and the MWs are only a few dollars each.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I've added some X-Men 91 series books, including Mutant Genesis 2.0 (although now that i look at it, the recoloring kind of bugs me) and X-Men Skinning of Souls.

So much more i'm tempted on. Including replacing some paperback copies of stuff I have with digital.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Wait there's a complete Machine Man? And then the silver surfer collection somehow led me to Allred's Silver surfer run. And then I remembered Miracle Man is published by Marvel!

Trying to resist stuff I already have an omnibus for, like Simonson Thor, Whedon Astonishing, Morrison New X-Men, Claremont Uncanny (though I rebought Dark Phoenix saga). Also I already have MCU, what in the world am I doing?

I'm also an MU subscriber and I'm pretty much only buying things that I want forever (or at least as long as Amazon allows me to keep them). I can use MU for modern stuff that I'll read once and forget about. Plus, the quality of the masterworks volumes is much greater than the versions on MU for a lot of the old silver age stuff.

There's a complete Machine Man, but due to rights issues it doesn't include the 2001 issues when he was known as Mr Machine, which is where I first saw him. That book was one where I decided to skip the physical and wait for the digital. It was half off a few months later.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Yikes. Since my last post I added What If Classic 1-7, Defenders Masterworks 1-5, FF Masterworks 1-10, Miracleman 1-3, Alpha Flight Classic 1-3, Champions Masterworks, Complete Super Villain Team-Up, Thor Epic 4 and every Roger Stern Avengers trade. I think I spent about $200 when all is said and done. I'm kind of in a state of shock right now. I need to step away from the computer before I spend another $200.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I'm looking at these $30 Epics and saying "Whoah, that one's $7. I don't know if I should pay that much...." And the second and third Miller Daredevils were $4 but the first was $5, and I said "I wonder if I should hold out in case that one drops to $4 too." This sale is so terrible.

This is probably too big to reasonably fit on my iPad for immediate consumption. Much of it by the forum' favorite creator, big shot Rob. But it's five bucks.

I just noticed some titles like Ms Marvel volume 1 and Captain Marvel volume 1 are free to Prime members.

Wait it's just a rental.
