Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterions! (11/1/16 - 11/28/16)
I just talked to one of the clerks at a B&N yesterday, and the sale officially starts on November 11th, one day before my birthday! I love the fact that this happens every year at this time - already got my wishlist ready! I did take advantage of the July sale as well.

Probably just the Vanishing for me. I have a giftcard from my birthday several months ago that I have yet to use. I kinda want Macbeth too but with holiday presents looming, I want to keep it simple.

Would people please post their wishlists? I would like to peruse them to get a few more ideas for some buys this time around. I know I will get The Vanishing but not sure of anything else.

These will be mostly new releases, but some older stock stuff I missed last time.

Does anyone know if films in the Art House category at B&N are also part of this sale? I forget if the 50% off Art House sale always happen concurrently with the Criterion sale.
I was hoping to pick up Only Lovers Left Alive at a discount in addition to Eraserhead.

I know the Criterion/Janus released "Art House" titles ARE a part of the sale, but otherwise I think it varies... I want to say that the blanket Art House sale often dovetails with a Criterion one, but I wouldn't bet on it. Check first.

I was going by DVDBeavers release schedule which has it for 11/17- but the link takes you to Amazon who has it as a 12/16 release.
If it doesn't come out during this sale, I'll likely be using the bonus gift cards towards it either during the next 40% off sale, or during the January B2G1 sale.

The Region B Studio Canal Tati collection is currently $51 shipped from the UK. Does anyone know if these are the exact same transfers as the Criterion and what the differences in bonus features are? DVD Beaver and Blu-Ray.com only had specs on the Criterion version. --Peter

My wishlist is far bigger than my wallet. I'll probably pick up 3-5 of these:
L'avventura
L'eclisse
Ace in the Hole
Judex
Rififi
Pickpocket
A Man Escaped
The Innocents
Persona
The Hidden Fortress
Rashomon
High and Low
Pale Flower
Marketa Lazarova
Carlos
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion
My Darling Clementine
Les Blank: Always for Pleasure
There's probably at least a dozen more, but those were the ones off the top of my head.

Thanks for the link to the Tati comparison. What's exclusive to the Studio Canal seems pretty minor, so it'll definitely be Criterion for me on this set (but still keeping the original Playtime Blu-ray because I suspect I'll be partial to its color scheme). --Peter
