Wait until next week if you can. There should be a 20% off members coupon($14.39) and a 15% off general coupon($15.29) .

The sale runs for 2 weeks, yes?
Would love to grab L'avventura if it is longer than 2 weeks, but if not oh well.

Was able to use the 20% off snail mail coupon I'd been patiently saving on the Tati set bringing the out the door cost to $48.
However I didn't look close at the new member coupons I'd saved and when she went to scan them, she noticed they were expired. I still bought the others anyway. Don't know if I'll bother going back, returning them, and re-buying with a newer coupon. Would be nice to save an extra $5 bucks, but I'm getting really tired of all the hassle to pinch a buck here and there.
When l'Avventura drops at the end of the month, I'll try to use it with the last three I want...unless there are some other good coupons between now and then.
Besides, using the gift card deal you're already realizing what amounts to an extra 13% of your purchase back in store credit.
First Trip
The Complete Jacques Tati
Macbeth
My Darling Clementine
The Shooting/Ride In The Whirlwind
La Dolce Vita

Picked up the two Kurosawas (Hidden Fortress and Throne of Blood) I wanted.
There were a few others that I almost bit on (notably Fantastic Mr. Fox and Ace in the Hole)but I'm trying to show some restraint. Hopefully temptation doesn't get the better of me in the next couple of weeks.

Had my first trip down there today to use my 20% off coupons. Picked up the Tati set and The Complete Monterey Pop. Got them both for a little under $75, and used a $75 GC I bought a few moments before the purchase, so that I could get my $10 at the end of the year. Pretty sweet deal.

For anyone wondering, there is a 50% Art House Sale going on now, but it is only on select titles. Fortunately for me, Only Lovers Left Alive is one of those titles. Picked it up along with Insomnia and Eraserhead. Might be all the criterions for me this year, already bought Y Tu Mama during the BB sale a while back.

No problem - always happy to make things more complex than they need to be..!
One other point - some lucky people have had success using the $8 off $40 coupon on titles originally priced at $39.99, by using a liberal interpretation of the terms and conditions and either getting employees to override the system, or by exploiting a system loophole.
The $8 off $40 coupon will automatically work on anything with an RRP of $80 or more, but at that point effectively becomes a 20%-or-less coupon, which means a 20% members coupon is often a better deal. HOWEVER... while the system usually-always refuses to stack coupons, you can double up coupons by finding an $8-or-much-less item (candy, bookmark, etc.) to buy with your Blu-ray/DVD and it's own coupon.
(The math then works like this: CC RRP x .5 (50%) x .9 (Member) x .?? (coupon) as normal, but then " + ITEM-UNDER-$8, - $8.)
I've actually never been able to pull that trick off - mostly because I keep forgetting to try - but maybe this'll be my year!

I see a lot of you are picking up the Tati set - I will as well tomorrow. I don't have as much dough as I thought, so no "re-buys" for me until the 21st. I'll list my haul after I get done shopping tomorrow. I always make a pilgrimage to the B&N in Killeen for the bulk of my purchases, since they usually have everything - if not, I have four more stores to check around Austin.

I always read about the 'Coupons' for these Barnes and Noble 50% threads. I'm not a member and never seem to get any of them. I am on their mailing list, so sometimes they send '15% off' coupon codes. However, whenever I try to apply one of those to a 50% off sale, it always says "Sorry, your coupon is not eligible for this order" or something.
I'm getting ticked off. Explain yourselves, people!

The percentage off coupons are disabled for online orders(sometimes they work early on before B&N pulls the plug). In-store only.

For in store- when you buy a $75 gift card, you get an extra gift card worth $10- but the code on that card won't be active until 12/26
For on line- when you buy a $75 gift card, you will be emailed a gift card worth $10 on 12/26
Furthermore you can use the $75 GC's immediately.
In store you can buy as many gift cards as you want. On line I think you are limited to 2 (but I could be wrong on that)
Although you can use the free GCs anytime after Christmas, you're better off if you wait for another sale of some kind to squeeze as much value out of the deal as possible.

Copied my post from the big BN Coupon thread:
There is nothing in the wind about coupons for this week so there aren't any active coupons other than those in the OP of LaserMovies Master thread. The only active coupons are the "New" Member coupons linked in Post 1 plus those members that got the 20% snail mail coupons.
There are also a very few "Anniversary 20% store only Coupons" that were sent to a few customers that are only active for about 10 stores.
There is a pretty good chance the for Week 2 and 3 that there will be some coupons or codes sent out, but no advance ideas of the types (multi use generic vs single use) or discount % (15-40% have been available in the past).

I didn't try to order anything online. I just remember that the % off coupons for online orders were invalid during some of the sales in the past. Sorry for the misinformation.

And LaserMovies and hariseldon do sterling work in the B&N DVD thread with seeking out and/or redistributing coupons.

Plus, although it seems like a mild waste of plasticated cards, by paying once and then using the giftcard to pay for Stuff, a) it's easier to keep track of what I'm spending and b) my bank doesn't worry that I've made half a dozen $11odd charges in the space of twenty minutes: I've spent $75 once.
Win/win/win/win.
