I'm optimistic, I like Brand's energy and enthusiasm.

The following has been announced:

SNL 03/05/11 - H: Miley Cyrus - MG: The Strokes

These are (unconfirmed) rumored hosts to round out the season:
  • Zach Galifianakis
  • Helen Mirren
  • Elton John
  • Justin Timberlake (with rumored to do the finale with musical guest Lady Gaga)
  • ... and two yet to be named

Will Brown be in a sketch where he beats a woman up?

Re: SNL 02/12/11 - H: Russell Brand - MG: Chris Brown

I'm lukewarm on Brand, so I don't expect much. Just give me a good Digital Short and an amusing WU and I'll be ok.

Brown is a douchebag. Not only for beating a woman, but also for whining about people not buying his last album. And going to a Wal-mart to complain they aren't doing enough to promote it.

Brand looked like David Copperfield's twin in the Livin Single sketch.

Someone had mentioned in a previous thread that they think Hader goes into it not having an idea of what he's going to say which is why he cracks up. After tonight I have to agree.

Am I alone in thinking that Russell Brand is just awful?

I don't think the writing helps things, but yes, he's pretty bad. I'd rather see his wife host. Even if it was awful, at least we'd have the pleasure of checking out her rack (waiting for the Elmo gif to make an appearance).

Not sure if it was a national ad or just a local ad here in New York, but I did find it funny that the Spider-Man musical ran an advertisement later on in the show.

Otherwise, that was a pretty horrible episode.

I think they missed an opportunity to have Stefan's British cousin come on, lol

Re: SNL 02/12/11 - H: Russell Brand - MG: Chris Brown

I like Russell Brand, but I felt that he was trying too hard; he couldn't jump start the weak skits like Jim Carrey did a few weeks ago. Hader had a great night, though - Stefan is too damn funny!

Fuck you and die, Chris Brown.

Re: SNL 02/12/11 - H: Russell Brand - MG: Chris Brown

It seemed very odd to me that at the end of the show, Brand was surrounded by Brown and his posse, with a couple of the SNL cast on the outside. Plus, I don't think that I saw one SNL woman during the goodbye. I only watched it once and deleted it because the show was not very good, but I can't remember having a goodbye where there wasn't any cast upfront during the main shot.

Has any other SNL featured a known woman-beater as the musical guest? Even if it's true, it's understandable.

Re: SNL 02/12/11 - H: Russell Brand - MG: Chris Brown

I can remember Nora Dunn skipping the Andrew Dice Clay show, but if that is the case, I don't understand why Brown would be booked at all. While there have been allegations of abuse against guests before (I think that Jackson Brown was on after the Hannah stuff), I think that the pictures leaking of the damage Brown did is what really did the most damage to his career.

I was sleepy and only watched the monologue. I was nodding off so I can't be sure, but it felt like the monologue was extra long. He was going on and on about his tight pants and he wasn't very funny at all during the whole thing.

at the British crime film trailer. Peter Travers: "It seemed like a lot of killing over a very small amount of money." That sketch was perfect.

The rest was meh to bad. I must be the only one here who doesn't find Stefan funny at all.

I saw the "Miley Cyrus" chick at the far side. That was a really awkward goodbye, though. I think there was payola or some sort of other deal to get Chris Brown on the show; the cast clearly wasn't happy about it.

Horrible this week absolutely horrible. Only sketches I enjoyed were the Gublin Green Attorney sketch and the British trailer. Made it through in about 20 minutes which I think might be a record for me.

That was the best! I love Armisten looking Ben Kingsley-like.

"Don' You Go Rounin' Roun to Re Ro"

"British. Extremely British... I didn't understand what they were saying."
