Re: SYTYCD (Season 7) - "The Top 6 Dance Again" & "Results Show" (7/28/10-7/29/10)

Jose - is dead man dancing at the moment on the show, his 2 numbers were average at best tonight.

Adechike - was somewhat good in both number, but not great in either number, just missing it by a little bit, but he's improving.

Robert - sort of fumbled the flip with Kathryn in his first number, but was solid in the bollywood pairing with Billy. I was still to distracted by Kathryn to really pay much attention to Robert in the first number.

Billy - had a strong first number, and kept up for the most part in the bollywood number with Robert. His first number was head-n-shoulders the best number of the night.

Kent - still gave too much face in the cha cha, and I don't really feel his ballroom is ground enough. The 2nd number being broadway played to his strength, and he did leave Jose in the dust.

Lauren - they might as well gave her and Allison a cheerleader number, it was a bit uninspired. She was solid in the ballroom number with Adechike. Let's hope she won't get cut due to her injury tonight.

they keep saying how hard the decision will be tomorrow, but barring any injury its fairly obvious that Jose and Adachike are going next.

Adechike still hasn't been in the bottom 3 all season, and it'll probably be that way tomorrow too.

Some think Lauren's time with the medic post-show was due to exhaustion and dehydration.

I'd say it'll be Jose and Billy. Adechike has gotten better over the past few weeks and never hit the bottom three yet. I think Jose, Billy and Robert will hit the bottom three and Jose and Billy will go home.

Goes without saying that Jose's pretty much a shoo-in to get axed, which is a shame since he's a likable guy amid a bunch of far-better dancers. The judges have been itching to purge AdeChike for weeks, and I assume they'd choose him over Robert due to their fawning. I'm not sure exactly why, but Robert's a technically sound but generic dancer in my eyes, and it doesn't help that he's performed contemporary piece after contemporary piece (his style) this season and failed to fully impress me. If it were to come down to AdeChike and Billy, since Robert's had a bit of a run in not being in the bottom before last week, I'm really not sure who they'd eliminate.

Billy's contemporary work last night, however, stepped right up there with Alex Wong's hip-hop number for "the dance of the season". There was something raw and cinematic about the whole performance, from the usage of "Mad World" to the juxtaposition of characters and Billy's erratic yet controlled movement, that kept me dialed in. Pretty brilliant. Glad he was able to get that in before a foreseeable elimination down the line.

I actually still have to watch the last half of the last night's show. I haven't seen Billy's dance yet, so that may change my opinion. Thx for the heads-up--I'll be sure to catch up! :P

Jose needs to go. He is being outdanced in every way, and a nice smile should be running its course by now. Him and AdeChike, who besides the hip hop number, I cant remember feeling connected in anyway to his dances. Billy redeemed himself last night with an amazing number, with that he deserve one more week. At this point, its not who, but when, since its a foregone conclusion that Lauren and Kent are your top 2.

I wonder if next week they'll turn the judging completely over to America (like they do in a normal season with the Top 5).

From Twitter:

@dizzyfeet - I am happy to say Lauren will be in the studio later today. She won't be in the opening number and won't dance unless she's in the bottom 3.

Well, we got some rain at 9:50pm and stupid DirecTV lost signal as usual. Can somebody fill me in on what happened. Can't imagine that the judges would let go of Lauren though.

Well, that was a semi-surprise.

Spoiler:
As soon as it was announced that the sole girl left in the competition was in the bottom three, it sealed Jose's and Billy's fates on the spot. It's a shame that Billy had to go after the killer evening he had last night, but it was likely to happen before the finale anyway.

Everyone on Twitter is calling out Nigel Lythgoe (@dizztfeet) as a homophobe because he didn't save Billy.

Check out his feed to see the fireworks.

http://www.twitter.com/dizzyfeet

He also mentions that voting was up 68% over last week and that the separation between 1st and 2nd place was less than 2%.

A lot of people on twitter are twits. And it's why I find it hard to take a lot of the RTs seriously. But when you give everyone a "voice" on twitter, you have so much more ignorant noise to the signal.

Jose, Billy, and Lauren were the bottom three. All three "danced for their lives" but of course they weren't going to let Lauren go so Billy and Jose were sent home. Even though they weren't going to cut the last girl, she really did have the best routine in my opinion.

So... there are four left. Next week we will vote and the low vote getter goes home, no more judges saves or dancing for their lives or anything like that.

The following week there will be three dancers and the top vote getter will be the "winner".

And Nygel a homophobe? He loved Billy, figuratively speaking of course. He brought him back after last year and gave him the opportunity to get into the 11 finalists, in no way do I see Nygel as a homophobe.

I agree that it's ridiculous and completely uncalled for to label Nigel a homophobe. He's always shown that he prefers male dancers to dance in a masculine way, but he's struggled to understand why the audience doesn't connect with Billy- and why they weren't connecting with Robert early on. He clearly considered them to be of a different caliber than some of the fan favorites. I've never seen anything that suggests that Nigel judges dancers based on their personal lives.

I thought Billy's contemporary work was amazing, but I just find his personality off-putting. I don't normally vote, but I can understand why teen-aged girls and their moms wouldn't be dialing his number. They may be the ones judging him based on his personal life. However, it wouldn't be because of his sexuality, it would be because he seems smug and not terribly confident in his own skin.

Is this show being shot differently these past few weeks? There's almost a film look to the show, and sometimes the dances almost come off as slow motion. It's really distracting to me- and last night Cat suddenly went from pale and washed out to vibrant. Really strange!

What continues to shock me is AdéChiké's apparent popularity. He's never been in the bottom three, despite only having a few rave-worthy performances and generally being below the other contemporary guys in terms of talent. He wasn't given an especially preferential edit in the auditions/Vegas round, so it's not that; and while he seems like a nice enough fun guy, it's not like he has one of those personalities that entertains viewers beyond the dancing (like Kent for instance).
