This week we wrap up the Vegas Callbacks and they choose the Top 10 (6/9)...
The best dancers who made it through auditions now have to prove they have what it takes during callbacks in Las Vegas. Which dancers will strut into the judges' hearts and which will trip up in the "Vegas Callbacks, Pt. 2 / Green Mile (Top 10 Chosen)"
It's time to meet the 10 dancers who will compete to become America's Favorite Dancer! After the rigorous audition process and the intense callbacks in Las Vegas, are revealed! The All-Stars were revealed over Twitter (@dizzyfeet) and are:
America’s favorite summer series, So You Think You Can Dance, returns for its seventh season with some exciting new twists, including 10 finalists competing, only one dancer eliminated per week and the return of dancers from previous seasons.
This year, the competition is the toughest it has ever been as the judges will pick only 10 dancers (five guys and five girls) – from the thousands that auditioned – to compete for the title of America’s Favorite Dancer. During the performance rounds, one finalist will go home weekly. Additionally, the competitors will be partnered each week with a different So You Think You Can Dance All-Star dancer – former SYTYCD finalists who are skilled in various styles of dance, including ballroom, hip-hop, jazz and contemporary. The All-Star Partners will be announced shortly.

The All-Stars will NOT Choreograph. They will only dance in their own specific styles. Partners are of the opposite sex and change weekly.

I think it's bullshit when Mia delivered the bad news to that black guy (forgot his name). He should be in the top 10. I think they have too many strong male dancers this season and they don't want to put all their eggs in 1 basket.

I miss the Top 20, seeing really odd matches work out on stage and seemingly good matches just not do well. I don't agree with the Top 10 and 10 all-stars method.

Me too, I love watching chemistry develop weekly from a good, fortunate pairing. Now, each dancer will just have to hope their all-star can fake enough chemistry to get them through to the next week.

Maybe next summer everything will go back to normal in Summer '11.

It is going to be a fantastic season and they are all worthy of being there! I enjoyed every number and I'm excited. The problem with the Allstars, I think, is that I find myself watching them sometimes instead of the competitors.

Melinda is like a melding of Jennifer Connelly and Demi Moore, it's weird, but very easy on the eyes.
I found most of the 4-somes and 3-somes dance numbers very distracting to watch.

This is my first year to the show and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! My favorite was Ida Saki, the Iranian girl who was stupid enough to quit instead of keeping their respect and just getting eliminated:

I totally agree. They shouldn't have brought back the previous dancers. It was WAY to hard to even find the top 11 dancers when four or more were dancing at once. I don't know how it was done in previous seasons, but I hope they don't keep that up.

Glad I'm not the only one - the new stage really bothers me - I think because
1. It's not as intimate.
2. The camera angles used to be be better
3. the backdrops and lights in the back are distracting.
4. The judges seem far away, as does the audience.
I also don't like the "dancing with the stars" twist.
Anyone else want to share why they don't like the new stage?

Any pics/video of the old stage? The criticism of the new stage is certainly valid. I thought the judges seemed far away and it was difficult to even see the dancers well on the new stage. You'd think going to HD would have improved this, but apparently not.
They've probably invested a great deal in the new stage and want to get a few seasons out of it before changing it up again.

I can't find any shots that show the complete stage, but here are a couple that represent it pretty well. The main differences are the fact that the old stage had some stairs with a landing at the rear, and they were often incorporated into the choreography. Also, the stage allowed the audience to be up close on two sides, with the judges occupying most of the third. And finally, the front edge of the stage worked in such a way that dancers could use it more effectively than the current design (again, going back to the intimate feel).

That does look a lot better--that's kind of got an American Idol feel. I wish they'd just keep it simple sometimes when it comes to design. Works a lot better.

My girlfriend is catching up on this show and I am looking up every few minutes. I don't think I've ever seen so much crying on any broadcast television show before.

I never was hooked on this show. I watched the show last night and they did an excellent routine at the start with the tea and crochet number choreographed by famous Wade Robson. I also liked the ballroom dance with Pasha and the two girls. Now on season pass. Easily can FFd through this show.
Those contemporary dances that Mia Michaels do have very little appeal for me.
