Scrubs Season 1 "edited"? Why? and other rants
I was watching the third episode and when Dr. Cox was talking to Bambi wanting to be left alone instead of saying, "I swear to allah" He said "I swear to Aisha". Since when did saying swear to allah become so bad?
Has anyone noticed any other instances that didn't involve music?
My first episode on the first disc had horizontal lines in it towards the end of the episode for about 10 seconds. Did anyone else have that issue?
I did a search and didn't see anything about these things so if there are then I'm sorry in advance.

I remember seeing that episode originally on TV, and it was dubbed then too. Not censorship... on the DVDs at least; possibly studio concern or self-censorship instead.

GAH!!! I wish the word Censorship would be changed on the forum so everytime someone types it in a post it gets automaticlly changed to "altered". There's a difference.

I'd settle for "edited" as well.
It's not censorship, and I hope to aisha for the last time, censorship REQUIRES government action. Period. End of discussion.

I highly recommend picking up this set. I've only got the last two episodes and some of the extras to go and I've laughed out loud numerous times so far. I'm looking forward to season 2. I hope they announce it soon.

Season one started in 2001. The ep was probably filmed before 9/11 and obviously aired afterwards. Throwing out a reference to Allah in a sitcom right after 9/11 wouldn't elicit many laughs and would probably make some audience members tune out. At that time it would have been a bigger comedy killer than the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand.
I seriously doubt the line ever aired as originally recorded. No big whoop.

Also, there are a lot of places in teh Scrubs set where, after watching a show, then watching the special features, where the directors liked the words in one take (since there is so much adlibbing [sp?] on the show) but the actions in another so they just combined the too. Usually, though, this only happens where the characters mouth isnt in view.
