The problem lies in the parenting, not the video games...

So how the hell do these quacks know that violent games turn kids violent, and not violent children turn to violent games? I find it sadly hilarious that all these people point their fingers at "Doom" and "Mortal Kombat" and "Drug Wars", all the while not mentioning the dispicable parenting behind most of these kids. And take a look at Japan- games are much more violent and mature over their, yet their crime and violence is way below ours.
I fully agree that children under 18...or maybe a little younger...shouldn't be allowed to play such games, but that's the parents' job to enforce that, and their job to raise the kid right.

Personally I think that absentee parenting when combined with violent video games or movies or whatever is the problem. So, in essence, the fault is that of the parent, but I do not discount that violence in other things can be a contributing factor.

I think a kid could watch porn all the time and not be warped if a parent was doing their job. Of course I wouldn't advocate that, but I think you see my point.

Stupid parents need something else to blame... they can't go and say "maybe it's my fault my kid is a rampant wannabe terrorist" so they say "It's those damn videogames like Doom" (since Doom is the only game that any person over 30 seems to be able to name). What the hell will they do, force stores to follow the rating on the boxes? It's a friggin game dammit, I've been playing violent games for years and have yet to kill anyone to be like a video game character.

So when Al Gore/Joe Lieberman jumped on this same issue(violent entertainment)...not a peep.

But Ashcroft comes in and people are all over him.

I'm sick of all this bs anti-liberal crap people pull out of their asses. If you never saw/heard any of the complaints during the many years when Lieberman was attacking violence in the media, you must have been living in a damn cave. Not a peep? Yeah whatever....nice try.

Ok so you demos and repubs feel a little better I think that Liberman/Gore and Ashcroft were/are both full of sh!t regarding this.

That make you feel better?

If these parents would actually look after there kids instead of throwing them in front of a tv we wouldn't be hearing these crap arguments.

I don't really see how Lieberman was "full of ****". He didn't really want censorship in videogames and whatnot, he just wanted to make it much harder for younger kids to get ahold of that kind of material. And you can't argue with that.

Heck, I play Unreal Tournament with my five year old boy cheering for me in the background! That's what I call father-son bonding.

I used to let me 5 year old play games like Soul Caliber and Marvel vs. Capcom but, he began simulating the moves on his younger brother. Nothing like the boy in Florida who killed the young girl doing wrestling moves mind you. But, these games do have some influence and, each child is different. He plays Super Smash Brothers and that doesn't seem to be causing any problems. He watches when I play games like UT and Quake and the blood and gibs don't seem to phase him. I feel as long as the parents are monitoring their children when they play these games, it should be obvious if they are being impacted in a negative way or not. I don't believe that banning these video games will stop school shootings.

I love these stupid liars, whoops i meant lawyers, who become politicians and decide their smarter than all other professionals. Something called the Catharsis theory helps show that we don't know yet the solutions for these problems. The human mind is very complicated and doesn't boil down to a video game made me do it usually.

I have played dope wars and find if amusing.
