Haven't read a release date for the Xbox anywhere. Could be 2002, but so far I just see rumors.

Well as far as everything I have heard it's still on for this fall. I believe Microsoft is going to announce an official release date and price at E3 in May.

These rumors have been present for a long time. It's mainly because the window for xbox to be fully ready to go after the its fully complete is so small. The other factor is analysts saying that it would cost to much for MS to release. (They would be losing to much money per console.)

I do however think that it could still be released this year if Bill really wanted it to.

More then likely they are going to try and sit on it until E3 so they can find out if Nintendo is going to make it out as promised. With signs looking like Nintendo is going to make it, MS may end up in a tight spot.

There's alot of other factors too. Even if the xbox was ready is MS going to want to compete against Nintendo head on for the market share? But then agian, would they want to pass up christmas shopping? There's alot of factors going into it. Right now there is no word if the puppy will even be fully complete in time in order to hit the assembly line. Someone over at MS is going to have to make a decision here, and I'm glad I'm not going to him.

*My personal feeling is that the system will be delayed. But anything can happen.

Here's a good link with some info on X-Box status.
