activision picked up the complete game for distribution, so it should be coming out sometime in April or May.

I saw this the E3 last year. The game had so much promise but looked horrible. Each character had about 2 moves before it became repetitous. The V/O's were good, but at the time I played it, it appeared only 4 characters were playable and the others had not been implemented. Control was kind of clunky and nothing really too special. I can't stress how graphically inferior this game is. It looks quite washed out, choppy and lacking. A great idea, but a definate pass in my book.

I played an early version of this game at last year's E3.
I only checked it out because I love the Simpsons. But sadly, like all Simpsons licenced product it sucks. It was about 70% complete, but no amount of code could bring this up to snuff. I've played a lot of unfinished games and it's pretty easy to tell how something will turn out. And unless they started over with a whole new engine this game will suck. The gameplay was, for lack of a better word, retarted. All you can do is run around and button mash. The graphics were abysmal - really blocky, low polygon characters with little animation. A drab wrestling ring, the only background. There were some funny voice samples from the show, but taken out of context they were dumb.
This may have been okay on a better machine (Dreamcast, PS2) but as it is it looks bad for a PS1.

Here's a preview from ign.com. It was dated 6/27/00. I'd have to say that you guys are right after looking at the screenshots.

Did they ever release that sweet 4-player Simpsons arcade game onto consoles? I know it came out for PC, but I don't recall a console release.. I'd like to play that one again one of these days. It was pretty fun. Ditto the X-Men game that was on two screens.

I don't think they released either the Simpsons or X-Men multiplayer arcade game. Although I have to say, that X-Men game was one of the coolest arcade games ever.
