The guy at EB last night told me they had the copies in the back but that he couldn't give my pre-order to me. This was close to closing time to. Unfortunately, I no longer know the people that work at my EB, I used to know them very well and could get stuff early.

If there is a lot of crashing, there will probably be a patch soon. I'd just hold on to it if I were you. But I totally understand how you feel, getting a really hyped game that everybody else loves only to have it crash on your system all the time (Deus Ex).

Me and my damn PII 233. And my wife doesn't think I need to upgrade If it says the minimum is a PII 350, does that mean it wouldn't work at all, or would it just be painfully slow? Anyway, I understand it'll be coming to the PS2, so maybe I'll just wait for that. (please hurry.....)

What timing. Tonight I heard the magic words from the Wife... "Why don't you get a new game. It's been a while since you got one".

A friend of mine recently upgraded his computer to a 1.3 GHz with a good 3D card and the game even lags in some parts (if he is zoomed out and lots of stuff is happening on screen) on his system. Of course, he was running it on the highest detail setting.

BTW, i finally got it to work - for whatever reason, it really doesn't like my firewall, disabling it and turning off autosave has made the game work 100%.

for those playing it, which creature did you pick? I picked the cow, and boy does my cow have a bad attitude. He eats villagers, farts on their buildings and kicks around the occasional tree. He usually likes to go skip stones by the ocean. One day though, he farted on my temple, so I slapped him around a bit. I felt so bad, I realized I had to play as a good God. Tossing people around was ok, but slapping around the cow, that's a no-no. It looked so sad. Now the people rejoice! (but I keep the cow on a tight leash) It's a very creative game!

The game runs quite well on my P2-450 with a TNT2 Ultra card. I am thinking of upgrading to a new MB/processor, but the game runs quite well. Haven't had it crash yet. It is highly addictive too!

So how do you "win" at this game? Also, can your "pet" die? Can you kill the other god's pet?

There are story scrolls (gold and silver) that are like missions in the game. The gold ones advance the plot and the silver ones give you items if the tasks are completed. I have no clue if the game "ends", although you can lose the game if your temple is destroyed. I have no clue if your pet dies but you do fight the other god's creatures.

Much like the Sims I don't think this game is about "winning", I think it is about immersion and having fun.

And about my P2-450, there is some slowdown here and there when the CD-ROM has to be hit (and I'm sure when there is lots going on it can slowdown) but everything seems to run nicely in 1024x768 at 32-bit color. I am still contemplating the MB/processor enhancement but maybe I can wait a while.

I started playing this last night. Awesome music and graphics. I was training my tiger to throw pigs (he eats people, not pigs). I had to slap him a bit when he kicked one. I have to train him, throw not kick. The AI is incredible.

So far. I haven't sat at work watching the clock and craving to get back home to a specific game like this in years.

get it - there's just something about being a god....

your worshipers can drop dead from over-worshiping you! if you get annoyed, just start throwing rocks or fireballs around. now that's entertainment!

by the way, does anyone have any tips on winning fights? I started over with the ape since my Cow was just out of control being a bastard, but the ape gets spanked by anything since he's 'nice'. All my ape does is gather rocks and make piles of them by my temple. I think I got the 'mentally challenged' ape. You can beat him like a red-headed stepchild and it just doesn't make any difference.....

The ape is the "smart" one of the group of 3. I also play with an ape and although he lost his first two battles, he did kick the evil god's creature's ass in Land 2 last night. I think the key is that you need to be in control of the fighthing and not let the creature do it himself. I forget which button you double-click in the battle circle, but if you do one of them you'll take control of your creature. Hope that helps.

the ape might be the smartest one, but mine's still pretty dumb. rather than cast all the spells I've taught him and make my life easier, he'd rather just get the villagers together (who should be working) and makes them dance. then he stacks rocks for a while, takes a nap, craps on my temple, eats it, and wanders away......

my cow might have had a serious personality disorder, but at least he was productive....
