My fave of all time is the 1st level Theme of Afterburner.

Other mentions have to be Legend of Zelda, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Contra, Double Dragon, and Castlevania: the Adventure.

Has anybody heard the rock renditions of classic NES tunes by the band Mini Bosses? Good stuff. Anyway my faves are:

-Metroid
-Zelda
-Castlevania
-The steel drum version of the classic Super Mario Bros. theme that was in Super Mario World.
-Einhander: Breakthrough(it was the underground level theme)
-Spyhunter
-Mike Tyson's Punch Out: The Little Mac jogging theme.

The NES has some killer tunes with their games.

Doom: E1M1 (Found a remix on Napster, too; very cool)
Conker's BFD: Chucky Poo's Lament (Yes, his name is Chucky; see the credits)
Gods: Title music
SNES Populous: Title music (creepy!)

The music from Unreal is very good. I got the soundtrack from the back of a hint book. The best score has to be from the Command and Conquer series (at least the first 2). Very killer techno/industrial music.

I think the opening theme for FF7 has to be my favorite game music ever. Very well orchestrated.

I always loved the music in Suikoden. Classic stuff. Most Square RPG music is great, too.

FF1 and Phantasy Star 2. They aren't real snazzy, but they bring back memories.

Chrono Cross had some amazing music. I may pay $30 to get the Japanese soundtrack.

Chronotrigger has some of the most memorable music. Also Shenmue has amazing music. I'll listen to that soundtrack for hours.

Zelda for the SNES. It has some great music, especially during the end credits.

I'll second Chrono Trigger. That Kingdom of Zeal music (think that's it....the floating kingdom place) has always been one of my favorites.
