PS2 widescreen and VGA questions

1.) Is the PS2 going to come out with something comprable to the DC's VGA box?
2.) How do you know which games for the PS2 have a widescreen mode? How does this work exactly? Is this widescreen mode anamorphic?

They are only $7.99. Seems pretty cheap. Might be worth a shot. I only assume that the PS2 output will be 480p while using the component video input on your tv. Versus the 480i when using composite or s-video. DVD's should be anamorphic but, I am not sure about games in widescreen.

I have my PS2 hooked up with those cheapo component cables right now..... they work well. Noticable difference vs hooking them up with the regular cables.
As for 16x9 widescreen....some games are. I know SSX has a 16x9 mode. Not sure of what other games do.
