Hey all - I bought Shenmue and am slowly working my way through the game when low and behold - bam! I'm finished with disk one and I try to load disk 2.
I close the dreamcast cover and disk 2 just spins and spins and spins - the screen is black and it continues to spin - I never get the title screen.
I try disk 3 and disk 3 loads up fine.
I look at disk 2 and there do not appear to be any scratches, except for one on the very edge of the disk that travels around the disk for about 1/6 of it. (yes, as if it were a record groove).
So, basically, what are my options at this point? I bought the game second hand and it's been more than 30 days because it took me a while to put it in the machine and then to finish the game.
Would anyone be willing to be burn their copy of the second disk of this game and send it to me? I would be happy to send you my real second disk as collateral, so you know I'm not pirating this game or anything. Also, does my dreamcast need special hardware upgrades in order to play burned disks?
If this doesn't work out, I'm just going to go to my local blockbuster and rent the damn thing (assuming I can find it), and play through the second disk - (so much for repeat playings)
Thoughts?

Hey, I actually had the same problem happen to my Disk 1. It wouldn't load at all sometimes, and other times it would load and then just freeze during the game. I returned the game to Target and got another one and the same thing happened to the Disk 1 except this time it wasn't as bad. I got through Disk 1 with it freezing up only a few times. All the other disks worked fine. Have you ever played burnt copies of Dreamcast games on your system? That might be what caused the problem.

thanks for replying - no, I've never played burnt games on my system. I just finally went to Blockbuster, rented the game and played through disk 2.
Thanks for the reply.
