I am considering switching my HT setup around so I can use the digital output from my PS2 but I was wondering if it is a great difference? Thanks for the help!

Using the digital(optical) output on your PS2 is the only way you can get Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 surround, so yes it is a great difference over using rca cables.

as far as i know, no games support DD 5.1 in game, while there are a few that support it during FMVs. If your PS2 is your primary dvd player, definately hook it up that way.

I tested it on Chrono Cross and the difference was very noticable. The music and sound effects are much fuller. You want to go digital whenever possible.

Irregardless of that the sound does sound much fuller and crisper through the optical cable as opposed to the RCA composite cables.

huuuge difference

i'm sure there are better products for cheaper - but i went with monster cables for the sound and s-video (with my amazon gc from way back!)

works great and there really is a noticeable difference
